Chapter 14:

P-O-V Percy:
"Holy shit!" I looked up to see who was sitting in the tree.
I really wish I hadn't. Nico was gasping for breath and clawing at a noose. "NICO!" I jumped into the tree and untangled the rope from the branch and Nico dropped to the ground. I jumped from the tree and clumsily landed on my back. I quickly stumbled to my feet and to Nico. I kneeled down and fumbled with the knot that Nico was still clawing at. My fingers were shaking so badly I barely didn't get the knot untied. Nico ripped the rope away from his neck and started spluttering for air. "Thank.....you...." Nico gasped. "Are you okay?" I asked. Nico shook his head. "I'm calling and ambulance!"

"Nine one one what's your emergency?"
"I found my friend hanging from a tree ten minutes ago."
"Was this a suicide attempt?"
"I'm not sure ma'am."
"Have you removed him from the tree?"
"Yes ma'am. He's breathing and responsive."
"What's your location?"
"Jefferson High School at 21930 West Avenue."
"What's your name?"
"Perseus Jackson."
"Name of the victim?"
"Nico di Angelo."
"An ambulance is on the way sir."
The line went dead and I sat with Nico's head in my lap. I brushed my hand through his hair. "It's going to be okay Nico I promise." Nico coughed and whispered something I wouldn't have heard if the sirens were any closer. "I didn't do this." And like that his eyes rolled up in his head and the ambulance turned the corner.
