Chapter Nineteen

I packed my bags and went downstairs, I saw Devon and Charlene together on the couch
Charlene was smiling when she saw me with my bags

Devon stood up immediately " You seriously are leaving?" "Do I look like I'm joking?"
I turned to the door and left, I kept on walking not knowing where I was going to, I sat on a bench close to the road

" Where will I go to now?" I stayed there for some minutes, I then received a call from a private number " Hey, Who's this?"
" Andre here" " Oh Andre, I really waited for your call" " Sorry, I was really busy, what you doing now?" " I'm at..."

I looked around and asked a lady what the address was and then told Andre
" What are you doing there?" "Long story "
" Okay, I'll come pick you up in twenty "
" Okay"

Andre really came, He was a casual apparel, he was really charming, he took my bags to his car and we then drove to his house

" Wow" I said as I got into his house, it was really big and beautiful, too bad he lives alone
" Make your self at home, you can stay here for the meantime, there's a guest room next to mine, if you need anything, feel free to come to me" he said smiling

" Why are you so nice?" "I don't think I have an answer to that" He smiles "Go freshen up, I'll be in my room " He says and then goes up to his room, I took my bags and went up to the guest room

It was night already, I kept thinking about Devon, About what he said to me, Did I really mean nothing to him? He played with my feelings, we both played each other, I admit I hurt him in the past but...him saying I meant nothing to him, that's too much and painful

I waited for him to call to check up on me but he didn't, why Devon why?! Why must he always be like this, he acts sweet for seconds and for some freaky reason, he turns cold

I really needed someone to lean on, I stood up and walked towards Andre's room, the room was unlocked so I got in, He was on a call when I got in

" Oh Sorry, I'll comeback later " I turned
" Hold on, you can stay, just give me a sec"
He ended the call and kept his phone on the table " What's it, Are you uncomfortable or are you hungry? " "No no, I'm not, I...just got bored
Andre sat on the bed and pat on the bed

I sat on the bed " So What's wrong?"
"It's Devon " "What did he do now?"
I explained every single thing to Andre, I don't know why but I just oddly trusted him

" You got pregnant for Devon?...wow, you really are interesting" "Yeah" I said as I looked down " Because you aborted the baby doesn't mean he has to treat you that way" " I know, now he's back with Charlene his ex and he says I don't mean anything to him while he's aware of my feelings "

Andre looked at me for some seconds and began to laugh " What's so funny, I'm talking to you and you're laughing " " Same old Devon, sorry it's just funny to hear that Devon hasn't changed " "What do you mean " I said with a brow up

Andre smiled and got closer " Let me tell you something, When Devon and I were younger, we were about nineteen then, I was dating a girl back then, Devon was also dating, my girl had a zing for Devon while we're dating, one day, I saw my girl confessing to Devon, I felt really heartbroken seeing that but I thought Devon would reject her but he actually accepted her" "Wow, he did?"

Andre laughed, I mean how could he be cool about it " Yeah he did, what's more interesting is that they started dating secretly, I acted cool about it, he's girlfriend kept on saying how good he's boyfriend was, Devon actually had sex with her" " Really?"

" He had sex with her several times, I knew about it but I loved her so much that I didn't want to break up with her, Devon's girlfriend really liked him back then but because of the way girls kept hovering around him, her feelings subsided, Devon eventually got tired of using my girlfriend so he dumped her and his girlfriend after having sex with them"

" That's so cruel " "I eventually told my girlfriend that I know about what was going on between her and Devon, I broke up with her afterwards" " That was a good decision "
" Do you know the most shocking part?"
" Tell me" " She's Charlene" "No way"

I said as my hands covered my mouth
" The same one all over Devon now, guess she really liked Devon, but sorry for her, she's just like the other girls in Devon's life, she's a sex doll" " Serves her right...anyways how do you know Devon and please reply me"

Andre Sighs "We we're best friends for twenty one years, we're friends right from when we were five till we were twenty six, Devon also grew up in California and then we moved here at twenty three"

" You guys really are close but what caused the breakup?" "It's not your business"
" Please tell me" "Go to bed" He says as he stands up and points towards the door
" No, I'm staying here tonight "
" Come on, I don't share my bed, leave "
" Please Andy" "Andy? Are you trying to be cute or what, it's Andrade, Andre for short not Andy"

Andre carry me to the door but I got back in, Andre kicked me out and locked me out this time, The next morning, I picked up my phone and saw many missed calls from Devon,
I called back " What do you want Devon "
" Good Morning would do " he said

" Where have you been, quickly tell me where you are, I'll come get you" " Oh please! Stop it!
Stop it Devon, why are you acting like you care? Can you please stop giving me hopes!"
" Quite bluffing and tell me where you are "
" Devon you've changed so much"
" I didn't change, you just never knew me"
" I know enough of you now, I'm just shocked about your sudden change "
" Jennifer, Where. Are. You?"
" Devon, I want to ask you one simple question, I need a yes or a no...Devon do you love me?"

Devon paused for awhile
" Devon, I'll ask again, Do you love me?"
" No, now tell me where you are—
I ended the call, it was good to know where I stood in Devon's life, I guess I know now"

I put my phone on airplane mode and went to shower, I changed into a long shirt and went downstairs, I saw Andre making breakfast in the kitchen, Hm, typical Devon would get Meghan make him his breakfast

" You're up, come sit here" I sat in front of him while he made breakfast " You cook?"
He smiles " If I don't, who will, I live alone "
" But you're rich you can higher helpers "
" I prefer doing things myself, here"

He served me breakfast and went ate together and I let him do the dishes, " So what're we gonna do today?" I asked him

" Don't say we, think about yourself, I have work" "Do you go to the company?"
" No, I have the Vice President there, all I do is to attend meetings, sign contracts, That's all, I stay at home, I don't have to bother my self "
" Then why does Devon go to work, why can't he just stay at home?" "Devon trusts no one, he prefers doing his work by himself"

"Speaking of Devon, He called this morning"
Andre turned to me "Why did he call?"
" He wanted to know where I stayed so he would come pick me " "Hope you didn't tell him you're here?" "No" "That's good "

Andre moves to the lounge and sat on a seat, he brought out his phone "Jen, Come here quick" I dropped my drink and went to the lounge "What?" He turned his phone to my face "What do you think of her"

I saw a lady in his phone, she was so pretty
" Wow, she's so pretty " "Yeah, she is, she's a Turkish actress, She's the one advertising our product" "That's nice"

Andre suddenly started laughing
" Why are you Laughing?" "She has a zing for me, She's so stupid " "What's wrong in her having a thing for you?" "There's nothing wrong with that but she's so stupid for her to believe me, I told her I was gay and my Vice President was my boyfriend "

Andre really is crazy " That's so silly for you to say that " "She's been hiding from me since then" "For her to believe so quickly, that means you haven't been seen with girls"
" I don't have time for love and stuff, I just wanna concentrate on my business and make more money " "I'm starting to believe you being gay"

After I said that I started running upstairs because I knew he would go after me
" What did you just say?!" He laughed and chased me upstairs
