"you're every color i imagined, but still you taste just like the best mistake i've ever laid to rest" - Violet / Shoobies

-Luke-
I heard a soft knock on my bedroom door, followed my Michael's voice, "Luke? Are you up yet?"
I groaned in response. The door opened slowly, and Michael sighed when he saw me with my face buried in my pillows, "Seriously? Look, I know things didn't go the way that you planned, but I think you're being a little bit dramatic."
I sat up, giving him a dirty look, "It was mortifying Michael. And, honestly, a little bit frustrating. I mean, why should I be the only one who's willing to put my heart out on the line?"
After leaving Violet's apartment last night, I had come straight here and shut myself in my room for the rest of the night. I had asked Calum to fill in for my shift that morning, after explaining to him and Michael how quickly the night had turned from amazing to uncomfortable.
Michael just shook his head, ignoring my comments, "Well, someone is here to see you, so can you please get up?"
I furrowed my eyebrows, "Can you please tell Violet that I just can't see her right now. I just need a little bit of space."
"As much as I would love to be the one to have to tell your girlfriend you want space, Violet isn't here. It's someone else."
Now I was especially confused. Letting my curiosity get the better of me, I stood up slowly, walking down the hall and not knowing what to expect when I got into the living room. When I looked over at the couch, my eyes widened a little when I saw Sydney sitting there. She was looking cautiously around the rest of the room with slight disgust on her face, likely because the room wasn't as clean as it should have been if we were expecting guests.
She looked up at me when I walked into the room, a scowl on her face, "Would you like to explain to me why you're blowing Violet off?"
I sighed, shaking my head at her question. Since the night before, Violet had been calling and texting me, but I hadn't answered. I don't know what exactly she expected from me. I thought being rejected like that would earn me at least a little more time to process things.
I sat down next to Sydney, keeping my eyes fixed on the floor, "I'm not blowing her off, necessarily. I just need a second. She really made me feel like an idiot, you know? It takes a lot to say what I did, to admit that. Especially when I haven't in a very long time. And for her to just ignore it completely... It sucks."
Sydney rolled her eyes, crossing her arms over her chest, "God, sometimes you guys are such idiots. I really don't understand what we all see in you."
"What are you talking about? I'm an idiot for being open with my feelings?"
Sydney looked over at Michael, who had now joined us in the living room, sitting in the recliner, "Is he always this dense? Is he really going to make me spell it out for him?"
Michael paused briefly, confusion on his face, "Uhm... I'm sorry, spell what out?"
She groaned loudly, "Of course Violet loves you, you dumbass! Is it really that hard to see that?"
I felt my eyebrows furrow again, finally turning to look at Sydney, "What? Did she tell you that? Why didn't she say it to me?"
"No, she didn't say it to me, but anyone with two working eyes can see it. I mean, just look at everything she did for you with that vet guy! She clearly cares about you so much, I don't know why you would question that for even a second."
