“Are they staring at us?” Liz asks. We were still at the restaurant deciding on whether or not we wanted dessert. The food was quite good, though lukewarm at best. The girl must have been standing there for a while.

“I don’t know, Liz! Do you want dessert, or not?” I ask frustrated. Throughout dinner she kept asking this question.

“No, not really.” She finally answered.

“Ok then, let’s leave.” I say, attempting to give the waiter my credit card. He refused to take it though, so I just sat there confused.

“The bill has already been taken care of.” the waiter explains to me.

“What are you talking about? Liz, did you pay already?” I ask. Liz shakes her head, also confused.

“No, the gentlemen over there paid the bill.” the waiter answers, nodding his head at One Direction.  I look over at their table and all five boys start staring at random points of the room. Zayn looks down, Louis and Liam stare at the ceiling, and Niall and Harry look at another table. All are trying hard not to smile, but all are failing. I look at Liz and we both begin to laugh. We get up, grab our bags, and walk over to them.

“Smooth, boys. Way to act like you weren’t watching us.” I tease.

“Oh, well you know, it’s hard to ignore such beauty.” Harry says, not even denying staring. Of course this causes Liz and me both to start blushing. I look over at Zayn and he’s giving me that amused/adoring look again, causing me to blush even deeper. Louis, Liam, and Harry notice this, and all look over at Zayn. I break away from his mesmerizing gaze and look at Liz, who’s talking to Niall.

“Yeah, the one person who wouldn’t dare miss a date with me.” she says jokingly, patting me on the shoulder.

“The only person? Really? Who would want to miss a date with you?” Niall replies. Now I’ve known Liz forever and a day, and I’ve never seen her face light up to this extent. Does Niall know the effect he has on her?

“Are we leaving now?” I ask everyone in general.

“Yeah, I think we should.” Liam says.

“And I think I should school you in the art of Wii tennis!” Louis says to me challengingly.

“Oh bring it dude, but let me warn you now, I play ruthlessly.” I say, accepting his challenge. He grins at me and starts to get up, and the rest of the boys follow suit. We walk out of the restaurant and Harry pulls out his keys.

“Any takers?” he asks.

“Hmm I don’t know. My mom told me never to get in a car with strangers.” I say.

“Aww I don’t bite.” Harry says flirtatiously.

“Yeah, well I do.” I say. Harry laughs, and Louis and Niall join in.

“Maybe we should just take a cab?” Liz says.

“Alone?” Zayn asks.

“Actually, I think Niall should go with Harry so he can set up. I’ll ride with Louis so we can get some ice cream, and Zayn should go in the cab with Liz and Jayd, so that they don’t get lost.” Liam says, raising an eyebrow at Zayn. Yep, I can definitely see why Liam is ‘Daddy Direction’. He’s smart, sensible, and tries to find solutions to problems. Niall and Harry nod, and then make their way to Harry’s car. Louis waves at them, and then begins texting.

“Ok, that sounds good.” I say, smiling at Liam. I look over at Zayn and he’s smiling too. “Oh, what an angel.” I mumble.

“Hmm? Did you say something, Jayd?” Liam asks me. Zayn grins at me. Great. So he heard me, but at least the other two didn’t.
