Maleries pov

I woke up this morning to hear guards storming in, I jumped up out of kataras bed to attack and they walked past me. They were going for Katara and Sokka they held my shoulders while they dragged my friends away. Aang somehow slept through all of this.

I then turned to see the stone wall being pulled down, another guard.

"Sokka, Katara! Where are my friends?" Aang asked the guard,

"They took them Aang." I said quietly so the guard wouldn't hear me,

"The king will free them if you and your friend complete your challenges." The guard said in a flat tone,

"And, if we fail?" I asked,

"He didn't say, your staff please." He said, I shook my head. Unfortunately my staff must have been left behind at the southern air temple. Aang gave him his staff.

The guard lead us back to the place we had the feast, the king walked in,

"First, children, what do you think of my new outfit?" He asked, he was wearing a baggy purple rope with large ripons in the shape of rabbit ears,

"Huh?" Aang asked,

"I'm waiting," the king said,

"It's nice, your honour," I said,

"I guess it's, fine?" Aang said rubbing his head,

The king went on blabbing to Aang, I didn't listen, I was looking for any trace of Sokka or Katara. My focus came back to their conversation,

"Ohhh, I thought you might refuse," Aang had ran up to the king using Airbending he was too fast for me to stop him, "so I will give your friends some special souvenirs," he revealed Sokka and Katara, and guards putting rings on their fingers "those delightful rings are made of pure genemite, also known as creeping crystal, it's a crystal that grows remarkably fast. By nightfall your friends will be completely covered in it."

I jumped up to run to Katara and Sokka but was grabbed by guards, their grip on my shoulder was tight enough to leave a bruise.

"Let them go, they have nothing to do with this?" I said, louder than I normally ever talk. They were my friends now and I owe them my life.

"Hush." The king spat,

"I'll do what you want," Aang said, straightening his back, he was only a little taller than me when he stood straight.

The king took Aang and I to a large cave, the ground covered in spikes made of stones and in the centre was a large waterfall with a key and a ladder in the middle of it.
