“How did you learn to sing like that?” Connor asked me and I smiled. “I never learned I just did it, this is the first time I ever did something like that” I said smiling. Connor and I were walking in the hallway side by side. Shayla was on her way to the painting workshop. “Well your voice is amazing” He said and smiled. “Thank you and you, you play the guitar really nice it was beautiful” I said and rubbed my palms together when they were getting sweaty. “Thank you but it would’ve been nothing if your voice wasn’t accompanying it” he said. I smiled. “You have a beautiful smile” he said and I looked up at him my expression becoming serious. “I should go find my friends, it was really nice meeting you” I said. He gently grabbed my hand. “Hey, see you soon again? I’d hate it if this would be the last time I saw you considering we go to the same school” he said touching my arm. I nodded reassuring him that we’d see each other someday, smiled, and walked away. I let out a deep breath I was holding in. He wanted to see me again? He didn’t even know me.
I texted Alexandra to ask where she was. I headed to the cafeteria where I saw Alexandra and Ciara sitting down eating their sandwiches. I sat down without saying a word and they looked at me confused. “Girl, you okay?” Ciara asked. “Shay and I went over to the music studio and the teacher asked if any of us knew how to sing” I said quickly with a serious expression. “What’s so bad about that? You can sing Dani!” Alexandra said. “Yeah and Connor can play the guitar! He made us go into the studio booth and sing this India Arie song that I love so much but with Connor” I said as I buried my face into the palm of my hands. Ciara squealed excitedly. “Wait, You and Connor you guys had to sing together?” Alex asked shocked. “Well I had to sing and he played the guitar” I explained. “Oh my God” Ciara said. “It was perfect though” I said. “So why is that a bad thing?” Ciara looked at me with a confused expression. “I don’t even know him”. “Well get to know him! Danielle I know him good enough to know that he’s a great guy and he won’t be one of the douchebags you guys have to deal with on a regular basis” Alex explained and it made me feel a little better.
Later that day we were getting on the bus on the way back to the school I noticed Connor standing in line. Connor smiled at me and waved. I waved back and smiled. Not everyone is like Shawn, my dad, or even Deron. I walked toward the back of the line with Ciara and we started to get on the bus and make our way to our seats.
