Danielle’s POV
I walked downstairs and saw Shawn and Shayla sitting in the kitchen laughing together. “Am I missing something?” I said confused. “Oh nothing! I was waiting for you to wake up and stuff! Your brother opened the door for me and was telling me about senior year” Shayla explained. “Yeah, so make sure you meet deadlines you definitely do not want to be the lazy crazy lady in twelfth grade trying to hang on the rope with the others” Shawn said and I smiled knowing that those were Christina’s words. Shawn nudges me and nods his head. I watched as he walked out the kitchen. “Alright so what are the plans for today before your date?” Shayla asked. “I don’t know what do you want to do?” I asked her. “Let’s call Alexandra and Ciara we can have a girl’s day until five” Shay said and I nodded agreeing with her. “I need to get nails done” I said and she smiled widely. “Yes girl you need to, because you bite your nails way too much to be seen with fingers like that in front of Connor” Shay said rolling her eyes. “Leo doesn’t care about my stupid nails and in that case I won’t get them done” I said shrugging. “Who the hell is Leo?” Shay asked with a confused look. “Connor that’s his middle name, well Leonardo but Leo for short” I explained. “So what you don’t like his first name?” she asked. “No not that, we have nicknames for each other” I said and immediately became embarrassed. “And when did this start?” she continued to interrogate. “Last night while we were on the phone” I mumbled. Shayla laughed and I rolled my eyes. “You guys are going to be so cute” Shay said and shook her head. “Whatever” I said while I made my cereal. “I’ll go call the girls” Shay said and walked out the kitchen. My mother walked into the kitchen and smiled at me. “Hey Sweetheart” she said rushing past me and I smiled as I sat on the stool and ate my cereal. “Hey ma I thought you were at work.” “I’m late” she said as she grabbed a bottle of water, then took her car keys, and she took an apple. “See you tonight ok? Have fun on your date I left twenty dollars on your dresser! Be home by ten and call me when you leave got it?” I nodded and she ran out the door.
The girls and I were at the mall and Deron walked up to us. “Hey girls, Hey Shay” he said with a sad expression crossing his face. We all stayed silent and Shay crossed her arms angrily. We began to walk away but Deron grabbed Shay’s hand and she turned to face him. “Look Deron, we are over ok? I need you to understand that! I don’t love you anymore” Shay said. Alexandra, Ciara, and I smiled. “Shay I said I was sorry, I called you over a hundred times rang your doorbell fifty times, and texted you about seventy five just to apologize” Deron explained and Shay pulled her hand away. “And that’s why I’m changing my number and moving out” Shay said and we walked away. “Proud of you Shay-Shay” Alexandra said and we nodded in agreement.
We were at the nail salon. I liked my nails, I got the French tips and it was really cute. “So Danni are you excited for tonight?” Ciara asked and I smiled. “I’m kind of nervous, what if I make a big fool out of myself?” I asked nervously. “What could you possibly do wrong at the movies?” Alexandra asked. “He might kiss me or something I don’t know” I said shrugging. “Just be yourself Dan, trust me he already fell for you nothing could stop him now” Ciara said and I smiled nodding. “Plus they already have nicknames for each other” Shayla said and laughed. “Shayla really?!” I asked embarrassed. “Nicknames like what?” Alexandra asked curiously. “Well let’s see Connor’s middle name is Leonardo and “Elly” calls him Leo” Shayla said mocking me. All the girls laugh. “You guys are so cute” Ciara said and laughed. “Whatever” I said annoyed. “Danni this is good for you, you were always so against guys and stuff and you finally found someone you like” Alexandra said and hugged me. “We’re happy for you and proud of you” Ciara said. I smiled.
