Danielle’s POV
I headed to the kitchen and sat on the stool smiling at my day. “Okay dreamy-eyes how was the date?” my mom asked smiling. “It was amazing ma! We watched Save Me and went to some Italian diner oh my gosh and the food was so good!” I said nearly jumping off my seat excitedly. “Save me? You guys watched a sad movie!?” My mom said confused. “Yeah but it was beautiful we cried together and then laughed about it after” I smiled at the thought. “Kids now at days are something else” my mom and I laughed. “I really like him mom” I said and my face expression turned into a serious one. “He’s really nice and sweet” my mom smiled at me. “I’m happy for you sweetheart” my mom said. “Ok I’m off to bed” I said, I kissed my mom, and headed up stairs. I peeked in my brother’s room and noticed him and Tiffany in there watching a movie and laughing together. I smiled, maybe Shawn has changed. I decided to go into Christina’s room, when I wanted to talk to her I went in there and spoke my heart away. I sat on Christina’s bed and immediately felt chills on my arms. I smiled. “Hey sis, oh man I just have to tell you about my day, you probably already know that I’m dating guy and well he’s my first boyfriend! I’m really excited about that! Christy, Connor is so nice, he’s so sweet and I really like him! I wish you could meet him because you guys would be great friends, he loves poetry like you did and loves old school movies and music! I just really like him and I wanted to tell you because you always wanted to know about my love life. Not that it’s love or anything yet! I really miss you Chris! And I love you” I said and wiped a tear away. I headed out the room and made my way to my room. I laid on my bed and took out my phone. I noticed a missed call from Alexandra and called her back.
Alexandra: Yes girl! Ugh I’ve been waiting! How was it?
Danielle: It was amazing Alex
Alexandra: What movie did you guys see?
Danielle: Save Me
Alexandra: Oh my gosh I saw that movie with Elaine and it was so beautiful
Danielle: Thank God! My mom basically said it was the worst movie for a first date
Alexandra: Oh no! It was perfect!
Danielle: We both cried!
Alexandra started to laugh and I joined in.
Alexandra: That’s funny, I never expected Connie to be the sensitive type
Danielle: Alex that movie was really sad even Mr. Bodin would cry and he’s a man with no emotions!
Alexandra: True! Okay! Okay! So you guys went out to dinner?
Danielle: Yeah some Italian diner Paola’s Pasta Place
Alexandra: Oh I know that place! That’s a nice place!
Danielle: Yeah and their food is really good too!
Alexandra: I know girl!
Danielle: He kissed me
I heard Alexandra scream on the phone and I laughed.
Alexandra: Oh my God! How was it?
Danielle: his face was filled with spaghetti sauce! And he kissed me! I loved it! I still get butterflies thinking about it
Alexandra: Wow! I’m so happy for you Dani! And Connor is a great guy so go you! Did he finally ask you to be his girlfriend too?
Danielle: Yeah!
Alexandra: Aw man I’m so happy for you I can’t even stop smiling! I have to tell Elaine!
Danielle: Alex!
Alexandra: What she’s my other half, she needs to know!
Danielle: Okay, so I’ll talk to you later?
Alexandra: Yeah later, love you best friend
Danielle: Love you too best friend
I hung up the phone and saw a text message from Connor. I smiled.
Connor: I’m home, Elly I had such an amazing night with you and I can’t wait for our second date! You’re probably sleeping but I just want you to know that you’re perfect to me and that tonight was a dream! Thank you for an awesome day! Sorry for all the exclamation marks! I’m just so happy about us! Goodnight love, talk to you in the morning!
I smiled at the next message and decided not to answer. How could I ever respond to something so sweet? I couldn’t say anything that could top that! I thought about how his hands held mine, how he hugged me, how warm and soft his skin was, and how amazing our kiss was. I drifted off into sleep with him in my mind.
I woke up at like three in the morning to the vibration of my phone. I looked at the caller ID and noticed it was Connor I looked confused and picked up.
Connor: Elly?
Danielle: Leo, you okay? It’s three in the morning
Connor: I couldn’t sleep, I’m sorry
Danielle: it’s alright, how come?
Connor: promise not to laugh at me?
Danielle: I promise I won’t laugh
Connor: I had a bad dream, I don’t mean to wake you up and bother you I just wanted to hear your voice
Danielle: You want to talk about it?
Connor: No, can you just stay on the phone with me while I try to go back to sleep?
Danielle: Sure
Connor: Can you tell me a story about something? It could be anything just to help me go back to sleep
Danielle: Um poems?
Connor: Yeah, yeah that’d be good
I was wide awake by that time, I wanted to know what the dream was about but I didn’t want to bother him. If he called me at three in the morning, I knew it must be a bad one. So I didn’t complain about it. I got up and grabbed my sister’s book of favorite poems. I read from Robert Frost to Maya Angelou to little quotes that I thought were so nice. Ten to fifteen minutes later I could hear Connor’s faint snores. I smiled to myself and lie back down to sleep with the phone still on.
