Fifty Two

"Theo, you can't be serious?" Jenny exclaimed as she opened a box that Trey had just handed her.

We were all sat around a large table, filled with drinks and so much food. I told the team that they didn't have to stay for long and they could go out, but they surprisingly wanted to stay a little longer.

"deadly serious sis, it's about time you drove your own car" Theo said leaning back, his arm around the back of my chair comfortably.

Jenny jumped up and hugged him, he chuckled as he kissed her head. "this isn't a toy though jenny you have to be responsible" he warned her as she showed everyone the fancy Audi key.

"think it's time for a toast don't you think" Theo said to Ryan. Ryan widened his eyes as he stood up. He was a little drunk but took it like a champion.

"yes, a toast. Well I don't have to keep going on about how proud we all are for the success you've created today. You've made incredible progress and that's partly to do with my impeccable decision to hire Mrs Williams over there" he winked at me.

"I think I speak on behalf of the whole team in saying thank you for your incredible hard work for these students. So, lets raise a glass to coach shall we" I grinned as everyone raised their glasses.

"to coach!" the exclaimed raising them up.

I smiled at them all. "thank you, guys, i've loved every minute truly and I wish you all the success in the world with or without me" I said proudly. Jesus Christ I was going to get sentimental soon enough I'm just impressed that I lasted this long.

"I do have something else to tell you though" I paused, was it really the best moment to bring this up. I'm not sure but I've laid my bed now.

"I've already been approached by people today. Not about me but rather about Scott and bryony, you guys have been asked to join the national" I barely got another word in when Scott shouted "no"

I widened my eyes as bryony also shook her head.

"guys I think you should listen" Theo backed me up knowing that they needed to think about this. But they weren't having it.

"we're not leaving, we knew this because they already spoke to us" Scott explains to me as he leans back in his seat.

"we don't want to join a national team when we've already got an amazing coach. We can still compete in the big competitions still at this organisation" bryony spoke up.

I felt Theo squeeze my thigh. "you're making a mistake" I said frowning at them. I would jump at this opportunity and they aren't even giving it a thought.

"it's worth it though" they both shrugged as they went straight back to eating and talking with their team.

Idiots. The lot of them.

"c'mon coach don't be pissed aren't you happy we're staying. Besides training wouldn't be as fun without me" Scott said taking a sip of his drink.

"Don't make me hate you Scott" I said to him even though it was impossible for to physically hate him.

An hour later I watched Theo say goodbye to Jenny, probably telling her to be careful when they are out. I was nervous about them going out because of what happened last time we were here in America but  Josh was here, and he promised to not get drunk and watch them all. Bryony's brother was doing the same too along with Tina and Ryan.

Theo finally came back to me.

He grabbed my hand and walked us out of the restaurant. "I have to go pick something up first, come with me" he whispered.
