Kate's Pov
"SOMEONE CALL FOR AN AMBULANCE!" I screamed to no one in particular.
I was now on my knees with Dixie's head in my lap. "Dixie you have to wake up." I shook her.
"Dix please, I can't lose you." I shook her again.
I heard the sirens in the brief distance. I knew they would be here soon. I sighed in relief before remembering my best friend was unconscious in my lap and didn't look like she would wake up.
"Dixie, come on." I shook her again.
I heard the ambulance pull up and I saw the medical staff rushing towards me. I backed up to give them space. I watched as they put her on a stretcher and rolled her over to the back of the ambulance.
"Ma'am, do you know where her phone is?" One of them asked me.
"Uh, yeah it's in her bag in the locker room."
"Can you go grab it so we can contact her parents?" He asks.
"Yeah I'll be right back." I run to the locker room and open up Dixie's bag.
I start going through and looking for her phone, when I pull out a bottle of medicine.
"Dixie, please tell me you didn't" I whisper to myself.
I snap out of my moment and remember the task at hand, finding her phone. I search for it a little bit longer before pulling the phone out of the bag and running back to the field.
"Here. Her phone." I say handing it over to the guy.
"Thank you." He says walking back into the ambulance.
I watch as him and the other people get in the back of the vehicle and shut the doors.
"God Dixie, what did you do." I sigh.
Addison's Pov
I was about to get up and start getting ready when my phone started to ring, it was from Dixie. "That's weird." I thought but I decided to answer the call anyways.
"Hello, is this Dixie D'amelio's girlfriend?" A man on the other side of the phone asked.
"No, why?" I ask.
"Because you're the only emergency contact in her phone." He says.
"Excuse me but who is this, and why are you calling me?"
"I'm part of the first response team at the local hospital, I hate to say it but she's on her way to the hospital right now."
All the color drains from my face.
"I'll be there soon." I say.
Before I know it he hangs up.
I jump out of bed and quickly pull on some shoes.
"Bye Mom! Bye dad! I might not come home tonight, but I'll be fine." Yell sprinting out the front door and quickly getting into my car. I start the vehicle and then speed off to the hospital.
"God dixie what did you do?"
"Please be okay, I love you too much to lose you."
I pull up to the medical facility in minutes. I had spreading your thank for that. I quickly got out of my car and ran to the front desk.
"Hello I'm here to see Dixie D'amelio." I say in a panicked tone.
"She's in the middle of getting herself stomach pumped." The lady says like it it's nothing.
"What happened?" I ask.
"She took a bunch of pills. Look I know you're panicked but she's going to be okay, I'll make sure you get to her room once she's out."
"Thank you so much." I walk over and take a seat.
Dixie's Pov
I'm in a dark room and on one side is a light and on the other is a girl. She looked familiar. It was Addison. the light seemed to be getting closer so I ran after the girl until we ended up in what looked like my house.
I look up to see her in a white dress, she looks stunning. I look down to see that I'm in a suit. Is this prom?
"Addi, come here."
"Yes?" She giggles.
"What's today?" I ask her.
"It's prom day. You look really good by the way." She gives me a soft kiss.
I try to deepen it but she pulls back. I frown.
"Not right now baby." She says.
"But Adds." I whine.
"Fine, one kiss. Then you're cut off until later." She says trying to act seriously.
"That's not fair." I complain.
"Do you want the kiss or not?" She asks.
"Yes please."
I grab her chin and slowly bring her lips up to mine. It was a soft and sweet kiss, it was the kind of kiss where you just enjoy the fact that you're with that person.
We pull back and she has the biggest smile on her face, causing me to smile widely.
"A real life angel." I whisper to myself.
"I heard that." She giggles again.
"Good." I smile.
"Shall we go?" I ask her extending my hand.
"Yes we shall." She takes my hand and we walk to my car.
One hour later
Addison's Pov
"She's in a room now." The lady from the front desk says to me.
"What's the number?" I ask quickly.
"Room 241" she answers and I pace fastly to the elevator.
I get in and press the button to the second floor.
The doors open and walk down the hall looking for her room.
"Yes, 241!" I silently cheer.
"Excuse me ma'am, but are you the girl our team talked to on the phone for patient Dixie D'amelio?" A doctor walks up to me.
"Yes sir that's me. Why?" I ask.
"We need to give her phone to you since you're the emergency contact." He says handing over the phone.
He starts to walk away.
"Hey, do you know why they thought I was her girlfriend?"
"I think it was your contact name. I really don't know." He says.
"You're really lucky. She almost flat lined but something stopped her and we saved her just in time."
" thank you so much, have a good day sir."
"You too." And with that I walk into the room to see a sleeping Dixie.
She looked better than earlier, more relaxed somehow.
I pulled out her phone and turned it on. Her lock screen was a picture of us at my house and I was laying on top of her sleeping. She was staring at me with the most adoring look in her eyes.
I entered in her password only to find her home screen was also a picture of us. The one was of us after one of her field hockey games and I was on her back, with my legs wrapped around her waist and my head on her shoulder. We both had the brightest smile displayed on our faces. Then I clicked on her contacts, which was the real reason a was on her phone. I went to her emergency contacts and sure enough there was only one contact and it read "my girl" I smiled at the thought. Maybe things would be okay when she woke up. I closed her phone and put it on the tiny bedside table next to me.
I pulled one of the chairs in the room close to the bed and then sat there. I eventually intertwined our fingers and just sat there.
"I can't believe I almost lost you." I say to her even though she was sleeping.
After a while the door opened revealing the whole group. Except for chase, but then again no one was really friends with him. He was just kinda there. I mean even Bryce came. There was a couch and some chairs. The rest of them either sat on the floor or stood the whole time. After a while Dixie's parents came in. Heidi was crying, Marc looked high disturbed, he eyes were red like he had previously been crying.
Charli had be clinging onto Avani this whole time and didn't even care that's her parents were in the room. I watched as Avani whispered something in her ear and planted a soft kiss on her cheek, not caring about the fact that her parents were in the room.
Marc shot Avani a glare. This guy was so homophobic I swear I wanted to punch him across the face.
Suddenly I felt a grip on my hand. It was her hand! SHES WAKING UP!
I stared intently at her as she opened her eyes and they immediately met mine.
"Addison?" She said loud enough for her parents to hear.
I know she didn't realize that her parents were in here.
"You mean Allison." I corrected her.
"No, My parents aren't here, so I can call you Addison."
I guess she was still a bit messed up from everything and didn't realize.
"Addison?" I heard her father say in a pissed off tone.
Her eyes widened at hearing her father's voice.
"It's okay, it was gonna happen at some point." I say to her.
She frowns and nods.
"You're meaning to tell me that this girl is Addison Easterling. IVE BEEN LETTING ADDISON EASTERLING INTO MY HOUSE!" He yells.
"Yes sir." I say lowly.
"I CANT BELIEVE YOU DIXIE!" He yells and she flinches.
The room goes quiet and she tightened the grip on my hand.
"Calm down." Griffin says placing a hand on Marc's chest to put distance between us and him.
"CALM DOWN?! DONT TELL ME TO CALM DOWN! YOU SHOULD FEEL THREATENED BY HER PRESENCE. YOU'RE DATING MY DAUGHTER AND DONT SEE ANYTHING WRONG WITH THIS?!"
"NO I DONT FEEL THREATENED BECAUSE IM NOT DATING YOUR DAUGHTER! DONT YOU SEE YOURE HURTING HER! SHE SHOULD BE ABLE TO LOVE WHOEVER MAKES HER HAPPY! GET THAT THROUGH YOUR SKULL MARC!" Griffin yells.
Wow, I didn't expect that.
"What do you mean you're not dating my daughter, of course you are. She's straight and you're her boyfriend." He says in a calm but pissed off tone.
"No he's not. God dad why can't you just let Dixie be happy. Hell, why can't you let me be happy. You have two gay daughters so just fucking deal with it!" Charli snaps.
"You too! YOU SEE WHAT YOU DID TO MY FAMILY! I raised two straight kids!" He yells at me.
"YOU CAN'T RAISE PEOPLE INTO A SEXUALITY YOU HOMOPHOBIC ASSHOLE. JUST LET YOUR DAUGHTERS BE HAPPY!" I yell at him.
"OH, NOW YOU WANT TO TELL ME HOW TO RAISE MY KIDS! I swear-" he's cut off by Dixie speaking weakly.
"If you touch her I swear to god you'll never see me again. I swear to it. If you lay ONE GOD DAMN HAND ON HER, I'll leave for college and you'll never see me after that." She says as loud as possible.
"Dad, get out! Leave and go home!" Charli yells.
"Come on Marc, just let our daughters be happy. Go to the car I'll be there in a second." Heidi says and Marc storms out the room.
"Girls and everyone I'm so sorry, I'm sorry that he hurt you guys."
"It's okay mom, we know you love us, its just gets to be a lot to handle." Dixie says.
"I know sweetheart." She says to her oldest daughter.
"And Addison thank you for taking care of my daughters. I'm glad dixie finally met someone who makes her happy it's nice to see you again." She walks over to give me a hug.
I feel Dixie let go of my hand to let me hug her mother. I always did love Heidi, she was so much more supportive than Marc and just wanted her daughters to be happy. She let go and walked over to Charli.
"Charli, I'm so proud of you, please know that I will always love you no matter what."
"I know mom." Charli smiles and gives her mom a giant hug.
"And Avani, take care of my daughter. I trust you."
"Wha- how, yes ma'am" she stutters.
Heidi leaves the room and I sit back down next to Dixie.
Most people were still frozen in there places with shock. The D'amelio's always seemed like the picture perfect family, but most times they were the exact opposite.
"Hey everyone out of the room I think those two need space." Kate says and everyone leaves the room until it's just me and her.
"Dixie I'm so sorry. I never meant to hurt you, I was just so caught up in the fact of losing you to someone that I pushed you away entirely, and look where that got us, you almost died dixie. I don't know what I would have done if I lost you." I started crying.
"Hey, please don't cry angel. Do you wanna know why Im still here? Why I didn't give up?" I nod my head.
"I was stuck in a pitch black room and on one side there was a white light, and on the other was a girl, but not just any girl. It was you. The white light kept getting brighter so I ran towards you and it lead me to what looked like my house and it was prom night and that's why I'm here. I'm still alive because of you." She says.
Dixie's Pov
"I love you so much dix, I can't lose you. I'm sorry I took off the necklace and I hurt you. Please forgive me." More tears fall out from her eyes.
"Adds, look at me." Her eyes meet mine and we just stare for a while. "I will never leave you, I love you too much to do that. And if you want us back then I'm all for it." She doesn't respond back.
Then out of nowhere she kisses me. I gently place my hands on both sides of her face to deepen the kiss. But she doesn't pull back.
After a while we pull back, and rest our foreheads against each other's.
We stayed like that for a while before I shifted over on the bed give her room to lay there. I patted the spot next to me and she go up and moved next to me. As soon and she got on the bed she put her head on my shoulder, and put one arm around my waist.
Before I knew it I heard soft breathes next to me signaling that she was asleep.
15 minutes later
I heard the door open and 4 people walked in the room. Charli, Griffin, Avani, and Kate. Kate slowly closed the door as they all noticed the sleeping beauty next to me.
"So dixison is back?" Charli asks.
"What?"
"Oh, that's your ship name." She laughs quietly.
"You're such a dork." I chuckle.
I feel Addison shift next to me. "Hmm?" She hums.
"Don't worry about it baby, go back to sleep." I plant a tiny kiss on her forehead.
"mmm." She hums again and snuggles into my neck.
"That's gay." Both Kate and Griffin whisper at the same time.
I let out a quiet laugh.
"Well we just wanted to come check on the both of you but it looks like everything is fine. It's late so we're all going home. Goodnight Dixie." Kate says.
"Night Dix."
"night gremlin." I replied back.
"Goodnight from the both of us." Avani says walking out.
Charli turns the light off and shuts the door.
"Goodnight angel." I say before closing my eyes and drifting to sleep.
