Logan shuffles his feet as he walked to the door. He felt terrible for having spoken to Patton like that.
He had eventually hailed a taxi and was now in front of his apartment. He reached for the handle but Virgil opened the door.
"Logan! You're home!"
"Yeah." Logan didn't look up.
"I was about to go for a doctor!"
Logan finally looked at Virgil's worried face. "Wait, what?"
"Someone attacked Roman."
Logan pushed past Virgil and ran through the kitchen, and up the stairs, skipping three steps at a time.
Roman was sprawled out on his bed, uncharacteristically ruffled. Logan examined him.
"He seems fine, the back of his head is just a little bruised."
Virgil let out a breath he was holding. "Good. I mean, I don't care. It's just I'd rather not prepare his body to be buried."
Logan smirked knowingly as Virgil left the room. They both went into the kitchen to get Roman an ice pack.
"Oh, by the way, Patton called. He should be here in five minutes."
Logan frowned and adjusted his necktie.
"Lo? What's the matter?"
"We... had a disagreement."
Virgil cocked his head. "What?"
Logan took the ice pack from him. "It's okay. He'll get over it."
Virgil followed him back up the stairs.
"What did you say?"
"I... said he was naive. I called him a fool."
"Why?"
"He wanted to help Delphi find his friend but I frankly don't trust the man."
"So, you just left him with him?"
"I didn't really have another choice. Patton was really angry."
"I would be too."
They went back to Roman who was groaning and starting to move. Virgil helped him sit up and Logan put the ice pack on his head.
"What happened?" Roman groaned.
"We were hoping you would tell us," Virgil replied.
"Someone with green eyes. He... Looking back he looked familiar. Sounded familiar."
"Really?" Logan asked. "Wait. Green eyes?"
Just then Patton burst in the front door and ran up the stairs. Python uncertainly followed.
"Is Roman okay?" Patton demanded.
"I'm fine," Roman replied.
But Patton still had to examine him to make sure. Roman kinda liked the attention he was getting so he pretended the bang on the head was worse than it was. Everyone was so focused on him they didn't see or hear Python quietly walk in until they heard Virgil's sharp intake of breath.
Python blinked uncertainly. "Vir-?"
Virgil flew across the room and barreled into him, pushing him out of the door and into the hall. Python shoved him away and ran towards the stairs. Virgil tackled him and they both went sprawling down the stairs.
Logan, Patton, and Roman dashed after them. When they got the bottom Python and Virgil were locked in each other's grip. They had run into a table that had a vase, that was now in bits on the floor, had perched on it. (WHO BROKE THE VASE??😡😡) Python's hat had flown off. Logan tried to pull Virgil off him but Virgil just punched Python in the jaw, snapping his head to the side.
