I waited outside Zims house, tapping my foot against the concrete and leaning against Zims fence. Now that I had an excuse to be closer to the house for a longer period of time, I could now analyse it properly and take time to notice things I hadn't seen earlier.

For example, the House actually had a gradient of colour. It appeared to be strapped to the other houses with huge pipes connecting them, the satellite on the roof was larger than first thought and there was a subtle line going down the middle of the roof, suggesting that it could be opened up.

Whilst I analysed this, the sound of an opening door had shifted my attention and the small green boy had stepped out. I gave him a smile and stood up properly, giving him a wave. He only gave a nod in acknowledgement.

We started walking and I had no idea what to say. The silence wasn't the worst but it wasn't comfortable either. I was about to use another lame attempt at ice breaking but was interrupted by some kids running past, almost knocking the two of us over.

We managed to regain our balance.

"Stupid stink children!" Zim cursed, holding a fist towards the direction they were running. "You will regret the day you ever messed with zim"

I shook my head and groaned in annoyance, "there is absolutely no respect. One of the many things I hate about humanity" I yelled gesturing I'm the same direction.

Zim looked at me, face morphed into one of suprise. He looked like he wanted to say something but he hesitated.

"You ok?" I asked, raising an eyebrow at his actions.

This made him seem even more astounded as he just stared. His gaze snapped away from me.

"Yes. You....you hate the stink-beast humans?"

I nodded, curious about his sudden change in attitude.

"Even when your human yourself?" He continued. His tone sounded so lost. I could only wonder if I was the only being he met who hates their own species.

"Well yeah, Humanity makes me just as angry as it makes you. Why do you think I was so eager to talk to you?" I answered honestly, trying not to blush in embarrassment.

Zims ever shocked expression remained for a moment before twisting into a humorous grin. He started laughing.

The two of us went on and on about the things that made us mad. Stuff that we couldnt stand about earth or the people in it. I even learnt that Zim truly was attempting to conquer the Earth.

Guess Dib was right this time, huh?

It turned from a disgusted rant into a hilarious joke. It started from disrespectful people, to stupid memes you see online. From malicious, to comical.

Then that conversation sparked new topics, before another came up. And as we walked and walked it became easier and easier to talk to eachother.

By the time we arrived at school, Zim and I had been laughing hysterically at some dumb joke. We were finally becoming closer. I beamed at him, feeling much more confident than when the conversation began.

I finally decided to start asking questions I was interested in as we started walking into the building. I wanted to ask simple ones to start though. I didnt expect him to trust me right off the bat, besides we were at school so he probably wouldn't want to discuss anything like that here.

"So zim, I've been wondering about some stuff for a short while and was hoping I could ask you some stuff if that's alright with you?"

He gave me a curious and suspecting glance, smile no longer on his face. Oh no, did I mess it up?
