All was quiet and peaceful - something very rare in this day and age. Legolas came across a small stream and walked alongside it, looking at all the small pebbles that glistened in the moonlight. He heard quiet talking in elvish tongue and vanished into the cover of trees. On a fallen log stood a couple:
"Remember what I promised you?" The woman asked
The man shook his head and sighed "We were young Arwen." She gave the man a jewled necklace - her evenstar "I cannot accept this." He pushed it back towards her.
"It is mine to give to whomever I want." She said "Like my heart."
Legolas knew who that man was immediately, and even from a far he could see that Aragorn was beautiful. He had rough, tanned skin, and was coated with a thin layer of sweat (that Lego daren't even think about). Strong, muscular arms leading to long, slender fingers (which Lego may or may not have thought about touching him in forbidden places) and deep blue eyes that sparked with determination. All the elf from across the room could think about was running his long, pale fingers through the thick, dark hair and along the rough stubble on the man's chin.
Yes, he was staring, but the couple obviously hadn't noticed as they continued talking softly. The elf woman kissed him then, making Legolas' stomach curl uncomfortably and so he walked on. He would have another opportunity so speak to Aragorn, he was sure of it.

Aragorn felt eyes burning into him and turned towards the blond elf in intrigue. Legolas quickly looked away. It was the next morning and men, dwarves and elves from arounf middle earth were gathered in a meeting at Riverndell. Legolas was sat across from Aragorn, surrounded by other elves of Mirkwood that his father had sent to accompany him - telling him it was too dangerous to travel alone in this day and age.
In the centre of the room, where they were meant to be looking, a Hobbit placed a ring on the stone table. There was whispering all around and Legolas leant forward toward the ring before he could stop himself. Everyone around the table were fascinated, save from Aragorn - instead he just stared at the small band with hatred and disgust.
This was the ring of power.
Boromir stood and slowly walked towards the ring, speaking of strange dreams. His hand was shaking as he neared the table, twitching to pick it up, but then the skys turned gray and booms were heard all around, pulling them all out of the trance.
It was the speach of Mordor.
"It is pure evil." Said Gandalf. "Like the ring itself."
"Ah it is a gift," Boromir spoke, his mind twisting with power. "a gift to the foes of Mordor." He went on with his foolish speech as Aragorn twitched with irritation.
"You cannot wield it!" He exclaimed. "None of us can - the one ring answers to Sauron alone - it has no other master!"
Boromir glared at him venomously. "And what would a ranger know of this matter?" He spat and Aragorn looked down, ashamed.
Legolas stood, annoyed at the human's arrogance. "This is no meer ranger." He said. "He is Aragorn, son of Arathorn, and you owe him your allegance."
Aragorn's looked up to Legolas, for the first time really taking him in and watching in awe as he finished his little speech. Everyone turned to Aragorn in shock, but his eyes were fixated on the elf who had stood up for him. His delicate face was framed with long blond hair, held back with two small plaits. He wore a brown cloak which covered his lithe body and the human licked his lips, wondering what secrets the tunic held beneath.
"Aragorn... this is Isilidur's heir?" Boromir gaped.
"And heir to the throne of Gondor." Legolas added, determined.
"Gondor has no king," Boromir spat to the elf before turning back to Aragorn. "Godor needs no king."
There was a silence before Gandalf spoke again. "Aragorn is right." He said. "We cannot use the ring."
Elrond stood. "We have only one choice - the ring must be destroyed."A ginger dwarf ran towards the table, swinging his axe like a madman. The group watched in horror as it shattered, knocking the him off his feet, sending him several yards away.
"It must be taken deep within Mordor and cast into the flames of Mount Doom, where it was forged." Elrond explained. "And one of you must do it."
There was silence all around.
"One does not simply walk into Mordor." Boromir said. "It's black gates are guarded by more than just orcs; there is evil there that does not sleep, and the Great Eye is ever watchful!" He went on, terrifying the young hobbits. "It is a barren wasteland, riddled with fire and ash and dust. The very air you breath is poisonous fume. Not with ten thousand men could you do this - it is folly."
Legolas jumped up. "Have you heard nothing Lord Elrond just said?!" He exclaimed. "The ring must be destroyed!" He spoke with confidence and looked around the circle for agreement and of course he was right, but then a dwarf stood forward, looking at him in disgust and began shouting.
"I suppose you think you're the one to do it?" He yelled. "I will be dead before I see the ring in the hands of an elf!" He moved threateningly towards Legolas, making the other Mirkwood elves stand in a protective stance around him. Arguments broke out between the races. It was common knowledge that dwarves and elves despised each other, both thinking that their culture was better and more civilised than the others. The small hobbit who had been the one to place the ring on the table stood forward and bravely cried out that he would take the ring, but no one heard him above the ruckus. "I will take it!" He repeated, louder this time and everyone turned to him, looking on in shock. Gandalf watched him with sombre eyes as the hobbit continued. "I will take the ring to Mordor... although I dont know the way..." They all knew there was no way anyone could do their on their own, and much less a hobbit. Gandalf was the first to join, and then Aragorn, who knelt before him.
"By my life or death I will protect you. You have my sword."
Legolas was the next to move forward. "You have my bow." The elf said, smiling lightly, but it soon turned to a grimace when the dwarf, Gimli, came to stand with him, telling him that he had his axe as well.
"You carry the fates of us all little one. If this is indeed the will of the council, then Gondor will see it done." Boromir said.
There was a peace throughout the council as they all silently agreed on the matter, but then a young excited voice rang out from hidden in the bushes, ruining the quiet.
"Hey!" Samwise cried. "Mr Frodo's not going anywhere without me." He said defiantly.
Lord Elrond smiled slightly but hid it. "It seems impossible to separate you two, even when one is summoned to a secret council meeting and the other is not." He said darkly, but there was no bite behind the bark. Samwise gulped all the same, but the attention was soon turned to the other hobbits as they ran in to join the group."Oi, we're coiming too!"
"They'll have to send us home tied in a sack if they want to stop us." Pippin said to Frodo quietly.
"Anyway, you need people of intelligence on this sort of.. mission, quest.....thing" Merry nodded.
Pippin spoke. "Well that rules you out then."Elrond smiled fondly. "Nine companions." He said. "So be it, you shall be the Fellowship of the Ring."
"Great!" Merry exclaimed. "Where are we going?"
