I walked up to Ellie's house and knocked on the door. An older looking man opened the door and looked down at me.

"Holy shit. Ellie, is this your friend you had mentioned?"

Ellie walked over to the door and immediately rushed towards me.

"Y/N, what the hell happened to you?"

"Abby," I said.

"She beat you up?"

"Yeah. She knew I had her notebook."

"Damn, get in here," she said and I walked into the house.

She closed the door and led me to her room. I set my things down before heading into the bathroom with her. I sat down on the edge of the tub and Ellie took care of my bleeding nose.

"Thankfully, it's not broken. Did she get you anywhere else?"

"My stomach."

"Mind if I?"

I lifted up my shirt a bit and she inspected my chest and stomach.

"Got some bruises. No broken ribs, which is surprising."

"How so?"

"Usually she goes full out when someone pisses her off. But she seemed to be holding back."

"Holding back?" I asked.

"She never holds back when beating the shit out of someone. I don't know why, but you're the first person to not feel her wrath to the full extent."

"Do you think you can do something about my black eye? If my mom finds out she will be pissed."

"I can cover it up, but you'll have to take it off whenever you can."

"Alright."

"I am just going to cover it up with some make up. Sound good?"

"Yeah."

"Until it is healed, which should take about a month, you're going to have to cover it up with some makeup."

"Understood."

"There must have been a reason as to why she held back on you."

"Your guess is as good as mine," I said. "It didn't feel like she was holding back on me."

"She definitely was. Because I know this one kid had a few broken ribs due to her."

"I just guess I was lucky."

"I would say that, but she was holding back. I know how hard she kicks and punches. I was on the receiving end of her wrath."

I sighed. "She also told me that I would have to be the one to work on a group project we have in our homeroom together."

"Why's that?"

"Practice and working out is what she said."

"Like she needs to work out anymore than she does. I swear if that girl wants to get a boyfriend one of these days, she's going to have to show some femininity."

"I don't think she wants a boyfriend after what I read," I said.

"You do have a point there. Damn, that is some black eye. I don't think I can be able to cover it up."

"What do I tell my mom then? If she finds out about this, she's going to step in."

"Why don't you let her?"

"Because I want to deal with this problem on my own."

"You think you can handle Abby?"

"Since I now know a bit more about her past, I think I can think of something to help her out."

"Let's hope you can," Ellie said. "Does your mom know about the tournament that happened today?"

"Yeah."

"Just tell her that was how you got a black eye. Simple as that."

"I guess," I said. "Then she'll ask if it was Abby."

"Say you don't remember."

"Alright."

"Well, that's all I can really do for you now, Y/N. Just take it easy with Abby for a few weeks. I think she needs to cool herself down after this incident."

"Right," I said and got up. "Thanks for helping me out."

"You're welcome. Like I said, you're more than welcome to come over if you need anything."

"Thanks. I should be heading home now."

"When you do get home, put some ice on that."

"Will do," I said and walked out of her house.

I headed back to my house to see my mom was still not back from work. I walked into my house, headed to the freezer, and grabbed an ice pack. I placed it on my eye and walked up to my room to get my homework done.

"Y/N, were you sleeping?"

"Huh?" I picked my head up and looked over at my mother.

"Oh my gosh, what happened?" she asked and walked over to me.

"Volleyball tournament. I lost it in the lights."

"A volleyball shouldn't do that."

"Someone spiked it."

"Do you know who it was?"

"I couldn't tell."

"Y/N, you need to be more careful when you're doing stuff like this. Did you put ice on it?"

"I did," I said and showed her the not so cold ice pack.

"Let me put that in the freezer," she said and took it from me.

I looked at the work I had finished. I had a head start on the project we were doing in homeroom since I had gotten the instructions off of the website the teacher posted to. It was nothing too much, but I would be better if I had someone to work with instead of doing it all myself. I sighed to myself and my phone went off. I picked it up and saw it was an unknown number.

"Hey, remember what I said this afternoon."

"Who is this?"

"Abby you dumb piece of shit."

"How did you get my number?"

"Not important. It's important that you get the work done for me. Understand?"

"Understood."

"Good. I'll be checking in on your progress and if you fall behind, I won't hesitate to make a fool out of you in school. Got it?"

"Understood."

"Good."

I sighed and put her number in my contacts. But since my mom likes to snoop on my phone sometimes, I labeled it as one of my friends from my previous school. I deleted a few of the messages and tried to make it sound like we were talking about something from the last time I saw them. But I knew it wasn't going to work since my mom is like a super sleuth. I could only hope for the best.
