"Hey, we better get going," I shook Abby awake.
She opened her eyes and looked at the clock.
"This early?" she asked.
"Remember we got an early flight?"
"Right, right," she said and slowly got up.
"Come on, Abs. Do you have your bag ready?"
"Yeah."
"Get dressed and then we're heading out to the airport."
"On it," she yawned.
I walked out of our room and into the kitchen. I grabbed our passports and tickets as Abby was coming out of the room. She had her bag and was ready to go. We headed out of the apartment and towards the airport. We got there, checked in, went through security, and waited by the gate.
"We still have some time. Want to grab something to eat before we board?" I asked Abby.
"Yeah," she said and we walked around the airport a bit, looking for a place to grab something to eat.
We got something to eat and waited by the gate once more. The plane arrived and we were able to get on. As we were waiting for others to board, Abby and I fell asleep and slept the whole way through the flight. The jerk of the plane woke us up, signaling we had arrived in Nevada. We got off the plane, got a rental car, and made our way over to the hospital.
"Do you know the room they're in?" Abby asked as she drove towards the hospital.
"I don't. I don't want to ask her because I don't want her to know we're here."
"Well before we go see them, we should bring them something. You know, a little get well gift."
"I like that," I said.
We stopped at a nearby store to grab a few things we knew Ellie and Dina would enjoy. Once we were done, we made our way to the hospital. We walked in and headed towards the receptionist.
"How may I help you today?" she asked.
"Do you know where Ellie Williams and Dina are?"
"Fourth floor, room 34."
"Thank you," I said.
"Are you fans of her music?" she asked.
"No, we've been friends since high school."
"Really? Wow. You two are great friends. Are you from around here?"
"Seattle."
"You came all the way from Seattle to see your friend?"
We nodded our heads.
"She better keep you two around," she smiled at us. "Friends like you are rare to find. Don't let anyone let you forget it."
"Thank you," we said and walked towards the elevator.
We made our way towards the fourth floor and room 34. We walked towards the door and knocked.
"Were you expecting anyone?" Dina asked Ellie.
"I don't believe so. It might just be the doctor. You can come in," Ellie called.
I did the same thing to what I did to Abby, but I figured neither of them could walk. Or the doctors advised them not to walk. So I slowly opened the door to where they just saw the hallway little by little.
"Hello?" Ellie asked.
I poked my head in, "Hi!"
"Y/N?!" Ellie looked at me.
"How are you guys doing?" Abby poked her head in after me.
"Please tell me you don't have Joel with you."
"Nope," I said.
Ellie sighed in relief, "Good. If he were to see me, he would kill those guys who caused this."
"What did happen?" I asked and walked into the room.
"We still don't know their motive, but they somehow got into our truck after a performance and tried to drive us off the highway. I was trying to fight them off while Dina tried to keep the car on the road. But we ended up causing a big crash."
"Are they going to hold you accountable for it?" I asked.
"No. When they find those guys and get the motive out of them, they're going to be charged," Dina said.
"The news said that you guys didn't suffer major injuries," I said.
"Well," Ellie pulled back the cover of the hospital bed. She revealed a cast on her left arm and a there was a bandage running down her entire calf. I just now noticed that she had a black eye.
"What about Dina?" I asked.
"She has a slight concussion, twisted wrist, broken ankle, and her right arm is broken."
"Wow, you guys are pretty banged up."
Ellie nodded her head, "Once we're able to, which isn't going to be for a while, we're going to head back to Seattle to heal and to get treatment. Dina stopped contacting bars and other places the night we were admitted into the hospital. So we're postponed indefinitely."
"I'm sorry to hear that," I said.
"But we are hoping to find at least some where to work for now. Just to keep us stable."
"We stopped somewhere and we got you guys these," I said and placed a bouquet of flowers on the table in between them. I set a small bag of chocolates down as well as a card.
"And Abby picked these out," I turned towards her.
Abby pulled a small stuffed giraffe and cat out from her bag.
"I didn't know which ones you wanted, so you guys can choose," Abby smiled and handed the giraffe and cat over to Ellie.
"Toss me the cat," Dina said.
"What if I wanted the cat?" Ellie joked.
"Toss me the damn cat," Dina chuckled.
"Alright," Ellie said and tossed her the cat.
"Thanks, guys. You didn't need to do this," Ellie said.
"You were there for us whenever we were in the hospital that one time," I chuckled, remembering that day. "Even if Dina wasn't there, we knew she was there in spirit."
They both smiled at us.
"How long are you guys going to stay here? The only reason I ask is because coming to Nevada is not a day trip for anyone," Ellie chuckled.
"Only for tonight. Tomorrow we have an early flight back to Seattle."
"We just wanted to see how you two were doing," Abby said. "Y/N was really worried about you two that she almost burnt down the entire apartment."
"Did you really?" Dina laughed.
"I was making dinner and the news was headlining your story. I had to listen and I burnt the chicken I was making."
"Where were you when all of this was happening?" Ellie asked.
"I was taking a pleasant shower," Abby said.
"And she interrupted it?" Dina chuckled.
"Yes."
"Hey, I did not interrupt it. She came out with nothing but her bra and boxers on to open the apartment window," I lowered my voice for them to hear.
Ellie and Dina looked at Abby and chuckled.
"Thanks for ratting me out there, Y/N," Abby laughed.
"You're welcome, Abs," I joked.
