Lonely

As the day wore on, I couldn't get that stupid photo out of my head. It was just so...fulfilling? Something in it had just created this desire to find someone myself. Oh well, there was nothing I could do about it right now.

I was blowing on my freshly painted nails when Louise asked me a question.

"Zoe, are you quite alright?"

"Of course Chummy!" I replied with too much perk in my voice. "Why wouldn't I be?"

"Because you're talking like this!" she mimicked.

God, was it that obvious?

"I'm fine, really." I said trying to convince her.

"Are you sure?" she questioned. "You know you've seemed distracted all day. If there's anything you want to talk about...I'm here for you." she continued, looking into my eyes.

Louise's P.O.V.

As I stated into my Chummy's eyes, they began to well up with tears. She quickly looked away, bringing her sleeve up to her face to wipe away the saltwater that was now dribbling down it.

"Chummy!" I exclaimed, "what's the matter?"

"Oh it's nothing Louise, just...uh...got something I'm my eye" she excused lamely.

"You're such a bad lier" I said pulling her into a hug.

She smiled, and I released her from the hug so she could tell me what was going on.

"I just...I was looking at that lovely picture of you and Matt and Darcy that's on your fridge, this morning, and it made me feel so lonely" she explained whilst wiping her eyes dry of that few tears she had shed. "I mean at first I was happy for you because it is an adorable picture" Zoe continued, "but then it made me wonder if I could ever have that. It made me want to have a partner to share my life and love with."

"Aww, Zoe" I cooed sympathetically. "I'm sure you'll find someone."

"Yeah right"she countered, another tear welling up, "I'm going to end up alone with my guinea pigs."

"No, no, no" I said, "You just need to start looking for someone. You know, put yourself out there."

"I don't know Chummy, I don't know if I want to do that" Zoe said.

"Zoe" I countered firmly, "that is the kind of talk that makes an old maid. You don't want to end up alone? Let's go out tonight. I don't care if you don't want to, I'm going to call up some friends, and we can meet them at the club. Now don't you protest, we have to get ready."

Zoe looked at me, stunned, but didn't argue. Tonight was going to be fun.

Ok, so because I haven't written a fanfic before, I don't really know if this is ok. If anybody reading this could let me know any thoughts on it, that would be great!
