I must have been drifting off into my thoughts again for a few minutes, because when I turned my attention back to the room, Grace was fully clothed in her sailors outfit checking herself out in her full length wardrobe mirror.

"Ah-mazing" Ebony sighed, "I can't wait to get home and see if mine's come"

"Well I sure hope it has, it's the big party tomorrow" I laughed

"God you're right! Are we having a little drink before guys? Make it a laugh?"

"Of course, I smiled - come round to my house about seven, and we'll drink till eight, then my dad will drop us off at Ryan's"

"Sounds like a plan" Ebony grinned, "anyway you two, I think I'm gonna get going, supposed to be babysitting for my auntie Janice tonight" she tutted.

"Actually, I think I'll walk to bus station with you, save me the trip later on, on my own" I said.

"OK, well, see you both tomorrow at college, then for the big Friday night part-ay at Goldsmith's" Grace waved, as we set off down her stairs and out of the front porch door.

We'd only walked to the end of Grace's street when a speeding red BMW hurtled in our direction.

"What the hell!" Ebony shouted in shock as the car pulled up besides us, I recognised the car instantly...

"MUM!" I yelled "What on earth are you doing?"

"Sorry girls" she laughed, flicking back her long red hair, "I guessed you'd be at Grace's, was stopping by to pick you up"

"But, why?" I asked cockily, it wasn't like she ever did that usually.

"Because from now on you can't be alone, I thought you'd be walking to the bus stop alone, I didn't realise Ebony would be with you, hi Ebony by the way"

"Hey Kath!" Ebony grinned.

"Get in the car then you two, I've got a story to tell..."

"So what's all this about me not being alone then?" I said suspiciously.

"Well, today your aunt Lily and I went to see a psychic"

"Ah, you mean a psychologist" I mocked,

"Ava, this isn't funny..."

"Sorry, go on"

"and this medium lady, she was telling me all this stuff about my life, and your dad's job, saying he's going to get a promotion apparently! Then she said, 'you've only got one child haven't you?' And I said 'yes', and she said, 'a girl, about seventeen, short forename, begins with an A'."

"Oh my god! Really?" Ebony said completely in awe.
