I hoped that Ethan wasn't in my History class. I wanted to just have a normal lesson with Grace and tell her the latest goings on, luckily I shared this class with her, and we were able to talk freely whilst doing our work because our teacher, Mr Bannerman was getting pretty senile.

Approaching the door to class, I crouched and peeked through the glass pane to see if Ethan was there- fortunately enough for me, he wasn't. I smiled to myself, realising this would be quite a relaxing lesson.

Mr Bannerman suddenly came skirting towards the door, his deep booming voice echoing down the corridor

"And WHAT are you two doing loitering about outside my room?"

Two? I thought to myself, I didn't dare turn round to face my stalker, I knew Bannerman was already less than impressed with me.

"Ava, you are very late, I would care for an explanation in a minute please, and who might you be?"

"I am Ethan Hollow" the cool, velvet voiced flowed through the air yet again...

"Oh I shall let you off then Ethan, seen as though it is your first day, Ava on the other hand...care to explain?"

"I was er, showing Ethan the way" I lied

"Were you?" Ethan narrowed his eyes at me

"Well I was asked to, you just walked away before I had chance"

"I don't recall it being like that" he snapped coldly

"Enough you two, you have wasted enough time already - get inside! Ethan, take up a seat next to Ava for now, we'll sort you something proper out next week" Mr Bannerman yelled.

I could not believe what was going on. Not only did this absurd boy hate me for no reason, but he now had to sit next to me.

I slumped into class with the object of my hatred following closely behind, and wasn't surprised to find the whole class in complete awe again, I just wanted to scream at everyone, ask what the hell was so damn special about this boy? Sure, he was good looking, but there was something creepy about him. Something I just couldn't put my finger on.

I took up my seat next to Grace and she mouthed the words "Oh my God" with a delighted look at Ethan who had slowly taken the seat next to me.

I rolled my eyes and raised my eyebrows, she didn't seem to understand why I was so angry, as a matter of fact, neither did I... but I couldn't explain things to her now. It would have to wait.

"Now, now class for the next three weeks, we will be doing something completely different. There are going to be six groups of three, each assigned to a different wife of King Henry VIII - you must work together and create a presentation on that specific wife, and if you cannot sensibly put yourself into groups of three, then I shall do it for you. Understand?"

I moved my seat closer to Grace to show Ethan there was no room in our group. Hopefully Holly Blatherwick on Grace's right would ask to join our group then there would be no room for him. But before I had even the slightest chance to hope, Grace leaned forward with the biggest, almost fakest grin I had ever seen.

"Hi Ethan, my name is Grace Philips and you can join us if you like" she beamed.

Ethan did not return the smile, but simply tilted his head and nodded sincerely.

"Thanks, but I think I'd..." he then directed his glare straight at me "...rather work alone"

"Oh nonsense, Bannerman will only team you up with some of the losers at the front, you'd be in perfectly good hands working with us" she smiled again, reassuringly. Her kindness was starting to get on my wick.
