After a long hot soak in the bath, one hour blow-drying and straightening my annoyingly long hair, twenty minutes applying my foundation, eyeliner, mascara and blush and eventually putting on the outfit and adding the finishing touches, I was finally ready for Ryan's big party.
I walked over to the full length mirror and smiled, even though I usually hated to admit it to myself, I did look quite nice. Before I had any further chance to self analyse myself or start to pick faults, the doorbell rang.
I sprinted to the landing (as fast as I could in my high heels) but my dad had already beaten me to it.
"Ahoy Girls!" he chuckled.
"Hello Matey" Ebony beamed "Where's Ava? Is she upstairs?"
"She is yeah; go on up...I've been ordered to bring the cocktails"
This time Grace laughed "Got you wrapped around the little finger hey Mr M?"
"She has love, she really has"
I heard giggles and clicking footsteps along the wooden floor till eventually Grace and Ebony reached the foot of the stairs.
"Wow" we all said simultaneously.
"You two look amazing!" I said truthfully, they did look so good.
"No you do!" Ebony said, with an agreeing nod from Grace. "We look like triplets"
"Come upstairs, we've got drinks to be having" I laughed.
Grace and Ebony threw themselves onto my bed and bean bag respectively, whilst I shuffled the playlist on iTunes on my laptop.
The music was quite loud, but the cool thing about my parents was that they didn't mind, they had always been pretty laid back, allowing me to drink alcohol even though I'm under the age because they believed that 'if done in a controlled atmosphere, with them around, I wouldn't feel the need to experiment and run my life down when I was older' I definitely valued these morals. I was sensible when it came to drinking, and always knew when to stop and how much to have. We all did for that matter.
A couple of minutes later there was a knock on the door and my dad entered with a tray of amazingly bright green cocktails.
"Your order is served. £25 please" he joked.
"Thanks Tim" Ebony jumped up, obviously choosing the one that was slightly fuller than the other two.
"Cheers dad, you don't have to keep making them you know, just leave the vodka and the apple sours' here if you want, we'll do the rest" I smiled.
"Ah I bet you will. Don't be drinking it all though girls" he warned "you'll end up really sick"
"Don't worry we won't" I smiled, pushing him out of the door and closing it behind me, turning to face my friends with a wicked smile across my face.
I raised my glass in a toast "to Ryan's birthday"
"To Ryan's birthday" we repeated, clinking our glasses together before downing the whole thing, only to then be choking a couple of seconds later.
"Jesus Ava, how much vodka did your dad put in there?" Grace said, spluttering the remainders into my bin.
"I know!" Ebony confirmed "How strong?! Mind you, I'm not complaining. We'll get drunk quicker"
"I don't think he knows how to make them properly, he'll have poured the whole bottle in knowing my dad" I laughed, walking over to retrieve the bottle to see how much he had actually used. "Uh-oh" I bit my lip "he's pretty much used the whole thing"
