Sophie's POV
"I can't believe this is happening! The Avengers are getting back together!"
My father looks at me nervously.
"What?"
"We ... uh ... we're not sure if you should become an Avenger yet."
"What?! Why?!"
"Well ... we still don't know everything about your powers. Besides, someone has to keep an eye on Loki."
I sigh.
"So, what? I'm just some ... some ... babysitter?!"
I feel the fire burning to get out.
"You guys get to go on a mission while I'm stuck here keeping an eye on Loki! I have powers too! I'd be highly beneficial to your mission!"
"Not my orders. Fury said that, until you've been properly assessed, you have to stay here."
I groan and plonk myself down on the floor.
Loki's POV
My request to join on this quest was denied. After all that's happened, even though I've changed, they still don't trust me. Instead, I've been left in the hands of a child.
Sophie's POV
I figure given I'm surrounded by all this cool stuff, I might as well make the most of it. I head down to the training room. There's a punching bag there. I wrap bandages around my knuckles, then start punching it. I get into a good rhythm, throwing in a kick now and then when I hear a noise from the doorway of the room.
"Ahem."
I stop and turn towards the noise. The punching bag swings and hits the side of my face. I touch the punching bag and set it on fire.
"What do you want, Loki?"
"I'm bored."
I roll my eyes.
"So?"
"I was wondering if you want to do something."
"Excuse me, but I'm already doing something."
"Do you want to spar with someone?" he asks.
I raise an eyebrow.
"Seriously? You seem like too much of a pretty boy to want to do something like that."
"I do mean it. Though, maybe we should do no powers. I don't fancy being set on fire."
I sigh.
"Fine."
I take off the bandages on my knuckles and slip out four golden armbands from my pocket. I clasp them around my wrists, then chuck two to Loki. He catches them.
"What do I do with these?"
"You clasp them around your wrists," I say, holding up my arms.
"Why?"
"It blocks your power while you have them on. You won't be able to pull mischief on me and I won't be able to set you on fire ... or drench you in water ... or get into your mind and mess everything up."
He looks at me for a moment, bewildered, before putting on the armbands. I take on a fighting stance. We begin sparring. I decided to try a different tactic to my usual one. I let him pin me. I smirk at him.
"What?" he asks.
I suddenly bring my lips to his in a quick kiss. His shock gives me the distraction I need and I flip him over and pin him down. I look down at him, seeing him frown at me.
"No trickery!"
"No, it was no powers."
He pouts. It's kinda cute.
