Iwaizumi and Oikawa were watching the Karasuno vs Shiratorizawa match and Karasuno had timed out.
Iwaizumi glanced over at Oikawa who was cleaning his glasses and slowly put them back on."I forgot to ask," Iwaizumi said, "Since when did you start wearing glasses? I've never seen you wear them before..."
Oikawa looked at Iwaizumi and smiled, "Oh these? Just a few hours ago," Oikawa raised his head up high and put on a very smug face, "I look good on me, right?"
"Mm," Iwaizumi replied, not answering Oikawa's question, "Why'd you start wearing them though?"
Oikawa started blushing, looking embarrassed, "It's a long story..."
"Tell me," Iwaizumi said sternly, "I'm actually quite curious."
"Well, ok then." Oikawa shrugged and looked at the volleyball court. "I was in the shops, having some deep thoughts."
"About what?" Iwaizumi asked.
"About Karasuno, Shiratorizawa, Nationals.... my future."
"Oh, right."
"Anyway," Oikawa continued, "I was thinking about what to do next... I'd had this set goal to beat Shiratorizawa since junior high and go to Nationals. We'd worked so hard, I tried everything I could and it still wasn't enough. I thought this year was the year. The year we'd finally pursue our dream, we had a promising team but instead we didn't even make it to the finals. It hurts. This is it. The end. Was my hours on hours of practicing worth it? I didn't even complete my goal in the end. But then I heard these girls talking about gifts. Completely off-topic to what I was thinking but somehow it completely changed my perspective about losing to Karasuno, Shiratorizawa and Nationals. Maybe I did fail, maybe I didn't go to Nationals, but it's not the end, right? It's just the beginning. I'm only like, 18? I can still continue with volleyball. Maybe I didn't beat Shiratorizawa or go to nationals and that's fine. I can set a new goal for myself and work even harder to accomplish it! So, instead of feeling sorry for myself, I decided to come to this match as a start."
"Wow..." Iwaizumi was quite astonished. "But that doesn't explain how you got your glasses though."
"Um..." Oikawa was looking embarrassed again, "I don't wanna talk about that part...."
"Tell me or you owe me ramen." Iwaizumi glared at Oikawa.
"Ok! Ok! ....So, yeah. You know how it was those two girls conversation which changed my perspective of things?"
"Yeah, you eavesdropping two chicks' conversation. Kinda creepy."
"You don't need to phrase it like that! I was just shopping and they're talking really loud okay?!"
"Yeah, sure." Iwaizumi said sarcastically.
"Well... I... I thanked them." Oikawa looked down.
"Why the heck would you do that?"
"I don't know, I talked without thinking!"
"They were probably really confused that some dude just thanked them for no reason whatsoever... What happened next?"
"They gave me this look and one of them was like, 'who are you?' And I panicked and looked at something next to them and blurted out, 'um— gLaSsEs please.'"
"You idiot." Iwaizumi rolled his eyes, "and why did you do that?"
"Um, let me continue and it'll make more sense." Oikawa looked even more embarrassed, "So yeah. the girl was like, 'Yeah, they've just been released,' and I panicked again, cause I didn't want to seem creepy so umm..."
"Go on..."
"I said something like, 'Oh, sorry I thought you were shop attendants since y'all are so cute....haha'" Oikawa was filled with embarrassment.
Iwaizumi face-palmed, "You just seem like some creep oh my gosh... Was flirting with them really necessary?"
"I don't know! I thought if I complimented them it would make the whole situation less awkward? Blessing them with my ikemen charm??" Oikawa gave an awkward smile and shrugged.
"What did they say?" Iwaizumi asked.
"It just made the whole situation even more awkward... anyway she gave me the glasses and I tried them on and thanked her once again and quickly walked away. I decided to buy them anyway."
"How embarrassing. Looks like your," Iwaizumi created quotation marks with his hands, "Ikemen charm didn't work after all."
"Shhh, well at least I'm here. Some better to do than ravelling myself in self-pity."
"Yeah, true I guess."
And they continued to watch the game.

author's noteok, so this was inspired by the haikyu light novel 7, which explains how Oikawa got his glasses. I couldn't find the translation ANYWHERE, it was so frustrating, but I found a little and decided to write a mini-story on it since I thought it was funny hehehehe.
Yeah, this is where I found it.
i'm aware this chapter was pretty underwhelming, sorry :')
