"You could be the remedy."

Y/n's POV:

It was midnight right on the dot as I stared at the stars out of my car window. I couldn't sleep, the noise of people a block away from me shooting off rounds of ammunition, followed by the screaming sound of police sirens kept me awake. I looked around my car, seeing a few of my bags, which happened to smell like garbage because Tommy threw all my shit out, lying on the floor.

I couldn't live like this, but here I was not really doing anything about it. I was still waiting to see if I was going to be approved for unemployment, but my phone was dead and the charger I had in my car, decided to stop working completely. I was fucked.

My mind drifted off to Harley and her offer for me to stay with her. It was a very generous offer and I was starting to slap myself for denying her. Really it was either live my life from my car, or stay with Harley or Florence. Even though I didn't know much about the pale woman, she seemed to be the better option.

I sat up, grabbing all my bags and stuffing the discarded items into them before opening the car door. The smell of rain wafted under my nose and my lips twitched up into a smile. I always loved the rain. Unlocking my trunk, I grabbed the rest of my bags and situated them so I was either carrying them, or they were slung over my body. Making sure I had my car keys, I locked the car with the plan of getting it when I could.

The walk to Harleys apartment complex wasn't that long, rather peaceful considering there weren't a lot of people crowding the sidewalks. I stopped in front of the door and raised my fist to knock. The anxiety bubbled in my stomach and I felt the sudden need to throw up.

What would she think about me just showing up? What if she changed her mind and didn't want me here anymore? What if she was asleep and was going to give me hell for waking her up?

"Stop overthinking for once, y/n." I groaned, rubbing my temples. Just when I was about to knock on the door, it swung open and Harley smirked at me.

"I knew you couldn't stay away." She giggled, gesturing for me to come inside.

"Do you think maybe I could say yes to your offer? I promise it'll be like I'm never here, and I can help pay for stuff." I scratched the back of my neck.

Harley waved it off, "Nonsense! You can stay as long as you want. I've always wanted a roommate."

My lips tugged up into a relieved smile and I kicked my shoes off.

"You can put your bags in my room, which is where you'll be sleeping." Harley led me towards her bedroom.

"Where will you sleep?" I questioned, not wanting to be that much of a bother where I kicked her out of her own room.

"With you, silly!" Harley playfully rolled her eyes, "The couch isn't that fun to sleep on."

I nodded, my nerves shaking throughout my body but on the outside you wouldn't even know I was freaking out. I set my bags in the corner of her room, finally taking a look at it. Her full sized bed was pushed up against the wall, leaving a bunch of open space.

There was a small wooden desk spaced away from the bed on the same wall. On the other side there was a large metal garment rack where all her head turning clothes were. There were a few interesting paintings hung on her (also) pink painted walls.

"The bathroom is next door if you want to shower and get cleaned up, I'm going to get us some food. I'll be back." Harley grinned, skipping out of the apartment with a pep in her step.

I grabbed some clean clothes I hadn't worn yet and my bathroom supplies. Shutting the bathroom door behind me, I was a little surprised to notice these walls weren't pink, they were painted navy blue. I set my clothes on the counter and pushed back the shower curtain to start the shower.
