Ragina's POV
I was trying so hard to explain the situation to Juicika. But you can't reason with heartbreak.
Her and Rome had made up, but she seemed adamant that something was going on between Ratty and George.
Ratty wasn't taking the breakup well at all. Cafeteria bread that was once stale is now constantly soggy from his tears. I think he uses the slices to wipe his eyes rather than tissues. He also refuses to speak to anyone. Rome and I tried to say hello earlier and he hissed at us.
Him and the other boys, the other boys being Mr. MacDonald, Mr. Ham and George, keep having secret meetings. I still hadn't figured out what they were doing. The suspense was killing me.
I did notice a pattern though. They would always meet in George's classroom before school started.
So I had a plan.
I was going to sneak into the classroom and hide before they arrived. and hopefully figure out what they were doing. So I waiting until the coast was clear and entered the classroom.
I couldn't tell Juicika or Rome about what I was planning because one of their big mouths would get me caught.
I hid between a piano and the wall just in time. I heard them enter not long after I was out of sight.
"Did you bring it?" I hear George's voice in a whisper.
"Of course I did. I'm not daft." I hear Mr. MacDonald reply.
I couldn't see what the were talking about. If I tried to look I'd surely be caught. I couldn't risk it.
I clutch the m necklace in my hand. It hurt to know he was hiding a potentially big secret from me.
"Alright then lads. Into formation." Ratty says. "Let's get started. I'm on the mic."
"You're on the mic?" Mr. MacDonald questions, amusement evident in his tone. "Stop acting like the main character. I am!"
Dramatic.
"I'd just let Matty sing if I were you mate. You don't want your classroom to smell like pasta." George says. Silencing the two arguing boys.
Sing? Where they playing music?
I accidentally have a leg spasm and make a noise.
"Is there someone there?" Mr. Ham whispers.
I start panicking and try to look for a way I can escape.
There was no way for me to get out of this unseen. So I pop up from my hiding spot."I thought I saw a stink bug." I say, with sweat dripping down my face. "Well. I'm off"
I try to sprint past them and out the door, but fail miserably. George and Mr. MacDonald each grab ahold of my arms, preventing me from going any further.
I start to regret not telling Rome and Juicika of my whereabouts.
