After Grad : 1

Hailey's Pov:
     Life really is an ocean. You either sink or you swim. Today I'm choosing to sink. My head is pounding so hard right now, I need Ibuprofen. I slip out of JJ's arms and walk into the kitchen. Kiara and Pope are asleep on the couch, so I quietly open the cabinet and take 2 pills with a granola bar. I feel arms slip around my waist and I jump slightly.
     "Hey baby" JJ says as I relax into his arms.
     "Hi" I say turning my head to kiss him lightly.
"Want some?" I said holding up the bottle of Ibuprofen.
     "Yes please. My head feels like it's going to explode. It was pretty worth it though," He said referring to last night. It was a really good night and a much needed one too. We all got drunk and partied the night away.
    We actually graduated high school. JJ actually graduated high school. It was so stressful but so worth it. Hey, I got into my dream school so everything worked itself out. The sad part, however, everyone is splitting up for college well... mostly. Sarah and JB are staying together, Pope, Kiara, and I are going off on our own, and JJ is staying here. I actually can't believe it.
     "Can't believe what?" JJ says before downing the pills. I gave him a confused look thinking he just read my mind. He read my confusion and said, "You said I can't believe it and I said can't believe what."
     "Oh shit. I guess I just thought out loud on accident. I was thinking about how we all actually graduated. It seems as though we were just starting junior year."
     Out of the corner of my eye I see John B's door open. I turn my head to see both Sarah and John B walk out. Sarah looks like hell, I guess she's never gotten that drunk before. Seeing as she was daddy's little rich girl for like 16 years, it makes sense.
     "Rough night S?" I say to Sarah as she reached for the Ibuprofen, after getting an old water bottle off the counter. She glared at me and took the pills.
Eventually everyone woke up and we all decided to go out on the HMS Pogue for the day. I changed into my favorite light blue bikini, with one of JJ's muscle tanks as a cover up, and some Adidas running shorts over it.
     The boys were fishing on one side of the boat while us girls were tanning on the other.
"Damn this year went by fast," Sarah said.
"Yeah it really did. I can't believe we are really going to fucking college next year. I never thought this day would ever come to be honest. I remember being excited to go when I was younger. Now that it's here, I'm not that excited," Kie said sitting up.
"I don't want to leave you girls," Sarah says sitting up as well. "Hailey you good? You haven't said much." It's true I haven't said much since this morning.
"Yeah I'm okay. Just thinking about how this is our last summer together before we.. you know... leave," Sarah and Kie come over and hug me. We stay like this for a while. None of us wanting to let go.
"This is so random Hailey, and I'm sorry if this is blunt or something, but I've been wondering. Have you ever wanted to do a DNA test to find your dad?" Sarah asked.
"Sarah!" Kie said shockingly.
"It's fine Kie. Yeah I've thought about it, I just never went through with it. Nerves I guess, but college is a new start for me. I'm going to start this summer off by rolling with the tides, and giving no fucks whatsoever. So that being said, I think I'm going to sometime this summer," I say looking out at the ocean.
"What if we do it next week. Then we can all be here to help find him with you. Even if it takes us across the country. It could be our pre-college trip," Sarah suggested. I nodded and smiled at her. I'm finally going to get some type of closure.

Little did I know that decision would alter my life greatly...

We didn't even notice the boys caught a bunch of fish until we heard them yelling. We jumped up and walked over to them.
"We're having fish tonight boys!" John B said as he held up a huge fish. We all laughed as the boys ramped and raved over his huge fish, and over the fish in the box on the other side of Pope.
That's exactly what we did too. We ate fish and talked outside. We played a bunch of games we always play when we get bored. Never have I ever, truth or dare, 2 truths and a lie, etc. We also played a game called confessions where we tell each other things certain people don't know. It was my turn and I told them something none of them knew. Not even Kiara.
"None of you know this not even Kie or S," They were all intrigued now. "I sing," I breathed out.
"You've always said you don't. Every time Kie would play we'd ask you, so why the secrets?" JB said.
     "I don't know,"
"Well sing something for us," Sarah said smiling. I looked at Kie and she nodded. (1:15-2:20 on the video at the top) Everyone was shocked and I just looked down.
"That was fucking awesome Hailey!" Pope said still shocked. Everyone agreed with him.
"What song was that? It sounds really familiar." Sarah said trying to think of what it was. Kie looks like she was thinking as well.
"I'm not sure my mom used to sing it to me at night a-"
"I got it!" Kie said cutting me off and shooting up off of Pope's lap. "Barbie as the Island Princess! It was my favorite childhood movie!"
"Oh my god same!" Sarah said as she practically yelled in John B's ear. He cringed and held his ear.
"No way it is? I watched that movie almost everyday. I don't know how I never made the connection as a kid. I guess that's why my mom sang it to me every night." I said looking down again, getting a little sad as I thought of my mom. JJ held me a little tighter. I never told anyone how she died I just said she died when I was 9, and they never asked how.
     We continued playing for a little while longer. I fell asleep on JJ at some point and that's where the night ended.
