I keep running past Astrid, maybe she'll try and kill the dragon before it catches up. Actually she probably doesn't care enough, she'd just let me die. I slip around a corner, I'm almost back to Gobber's workshop, I can grab another weapon to finally kill a dragon! Or, better idea, I get one from another Viking. Maybe Astrid had something.
I turn around, only to find that the Gronckle is no longer at my heels, but instead jumping around and flapping it's wings while trying to get through a narrow street. What, why is it doing that? I flinch as it exhales flames onto the walls restricting it's path. Cautiously, I grab a long peice of steel from the ground and approach the dragon. Maybe it won't notice me while trying to get through and I can stab it with the steel.
I don't notice a long stick of wood on the path, it probably fell from the firewood in the fire pits that are hoisted into the air. Without realizing, I step on it, causing it to loudly crack.
The dragon immediately jerks its head backwards, it's gaze now fixed on me. That wasn't supposed to happen! My heart is pounding so hard I think my chest might explode. I fidget my fingers on the smooth surface of the steel, and quicky dodge to the side as the dragons flies full speed forward in my direction.
It is caught off guard by my movement, and I have enough time to dart behind it and into the narrow street the dragon couldn't get through. I run down the street as quickly as possible, I can hear the dragon thrashing around trying to come after me. The walls around me are ablaze from the dragon's breath and it's hard to breathe as I run.
Panting, I finally reach the end of the path, which opens up to a town square. A town square that is full of sheep? I step slowly into the herd, but stop when I hear someone calling me. I turn my head to see one of the many Vikings urgently trying to get my attention.
"Get out of there! Hiccup! We finally got the sheep somewhere that the dragons haven't noticed!" She is yell-whispering at me to keep from drawing the dragons' attention. I shuffle around the sheep as quickly as possible on my way to the Viking who called me. I'm almost half way there when the sound of a building collapsing from flames errupts behind me, and along with it, the roar of that Gronckle.
I flinch and run as the sheep fumble about, trying to get away. The dragon roars again, this time blasting flames in the air, telling the other dragons he found the jackpot. I finally reach the outside and run, a flock of dragons are headed in the direction of the sheep, and killing that one dragon isn't worth it anymore. I'll just go back to Gobber's workshop and act like I never left.
I can hear the Viking that was watching the sheep yelling something at me, but I can't make out her words over the sounds of the crowds yelling and the dragons. I just keep running down a main road and around a couple corners, I'm almost there! I look up, the sun is beginning to rise and the dragons are starting to fly away.
I'm about to enter the doorway when a large hand grabs my shoulder. I wince and turn around. My dad is looming over me, furious. He speaks before I can say anything, his voice is full of rage.
"What did you do?"
