ASPEN NEVER SHOULD HAVE KISSED TAEHYUNG. She knew that much. Something had shifted between the two of them after they kissed. There was a sort of tension that settled between the two of them that wasn't previously there before. Because of this tension, Aspen tried to avoid confronting it and him all together.

Whenever Taehyung said good morning to her, she would simply murmur it back before promptly walking away to avoid being in his presence too long. She didn't curl up with him to keep warm, sticking to one end of the couch like her life depended on it with Yeontan in her lap and a cheap heater to keep her warm.

Was she disgusted by him? Did she hate him? That was the last thing Taehyung wanted, for her to hate him, be disgusted by him, avoid him just as she was now. He didn't know she was simply trying to protect herself, her heart, the last shreds of her person that had been stripped away from her past lovers.

It made him sad.

He wanted to understand. To reach out and know what he did wrong to that he can fix it. He didn't know of all her past affairs. How hard it was for her to entrust her heart to someone like that. Aspen wasn't one to be vulnerable so easily. To bear her heart and wear it on her sleeve.

Everytime Taehyung tried to talk to her, she would brush him off, "not right now, Tae", dismiss him. It made him feel dejected and of course Aspen didn't want him to feel that way. She wasn't good at expressing emotions in a proper way.

Did she regret the kiss? Taehyung hoped not. He didn't regret it. He loved it. He thought about it constantly. It was on his mind like a broken record. Aspen must have hated it. She wanted it purged from her mind. She couldn't stop thinking about it either.

Taehyung did his very best to get her to open up. In the morning, he made her coffee for her and he tried his best to make breakfast. Yes, the bacon was slightly overcooked and the eggs were slightly runny, but he tried. He wanted to make her happy, hopelessly so, but it seemed as though his efforts were in vain.

After days of thinking and rethinking, Taehyung decided that enough was enough. He deserved answers, not to be left in the dark. The least she could do was tell him what he did wrong so that maybe he can restore things to what they once were. He decided that he'd confront Aspen.

When she woke up the next morning, she stumbled downstairs with Yeontan waddling along in tow. She shuffled away into the kitchen as she always did in her morning routine. Taehyung was quick to scramble up from the couch and follow her. Maybe it wasn't the best idea to corner her, but this may be the only time he has to talk to her.

Taehyung leaned against the open entrance frame of the kitchen with his arms crossed over his broad chest. His expression was soft, yet somehow soft at the same time.
