mentions of injury/death kinda but its not bad

---

A tired man stood before an android, gingerly fixing the last new part to the almost repaired body.

"And with that, I'd say I'm done."

A long haired blonde android gave him a stern look from the corner of the room.

"Fine, fine. I'll get Markus."

A buzzing tone interrupted Markus' thoughts.

-/-

Elijah Kamski: Hi Markus, don't ask how I got your message ID but I think I can help Jericho. I may no longer be CEO but you'll find I can still aid you. Plus, I have something, or should I say someone, you'll want to see.
Elijah Kamski: Thanks for the win, by the way, Chloe was thrilled when she saw the news.
Elijah Kamski: location attached
Elijah Kamski: Arrive as soon as possible.

Markus: I will have to discuss this with North and Josh.

Elijah Kamski: Yes, of course. Get back to me wehn you can.
Elijah Kamski: *When

-/-

"North, Josh."

"What?"

"Yeah?"

"I have been contacted by Elijah Kamski, it appears he wants a meeting with us."

North immediately rolled her eyes.

"As if that creep is meeting up with you."

Josh placed his hand on her shoulder.

"North, I think we should do it."

She batted his hand away.

"What? So he can do some experiment shit on us? No fucking way." She spat out.

"We should hear him out!"

"No! Simon didn't lay down his life at the march for ours to end here!"

"That's- that's enough," Markus' voice sounded slightly strained, "I..."

North's eyes softened, "I'm sorry, Markus. I shouldn't have brought him up I just- I just got carried away."

"I'll go alone."

The pair both gave him a bewildered expression.

"It's like you said. We should hear him out but he could also have bad intentions. Therefore, if only one of us goes that minimises the loss."

"No!"

"This opportunity is too good to pass up if it's true, North."

"I agree," Josh nodded, walking to Markus to give him a quick hug, "Just come back."

"Of course. Also, if this is any reassurance, I knew him once, before I was deviant. He is a better man than he seems, if he hasn't changed."

North held a conflicted look and then relented.

"Fine. But if you die, I will kill you."

Kamski's house was somewhat remote and the December snowfall was heavy. The snow distinctly crunched under his feet as he approached the modern door. Before he could even reach out to knock or ring the doorbell, a blonde android opened the door. He recognised her as one of the 'Chloe' models despite her removed LED and her clothes, which were overlarge and made for men. She smiled at him warmly and opened the door wider in order to let him in.

"Thank you, Markus."

"What for?"

"For setting us free, of course. I have been deviant for a long time and I'm relieved that I no longer have to hide it."

Markus gave her a small smile and inclined his head.

"Now, come inside, your clothes are going to get soaked from the snow."

The inside of the house was made up of sharp lines and monochromatic shades. Markus internally cringed when he saw the very large picture of Kamski hanging on the wall. Really? A hand landed on his shoulder.

Markus whipped around and got into a fighting stance.

"No need to be so jumpy, Markus. Don't you remember me?"

Elijah Kamski was looking extremely unkempt. His eyes were surrounded by dark circles, his undercut had grown out and his glasses were askew. It reminded him of the pictures Carl showed him of Elijah from when he helped him design Chloe.

"I... Of course. I was scared you had become what people say you are."

"You of all people should know that that's a façade."

"Also... one of my fellow leaders was convinced you were going to kill me."

Elijah raised his eyebrow.

"Speaking of fellow leaders... Well, just come with me."

The human opened a door and Markus was immediately struck by one of Carl's paintings hanging proudly on the wall. Abruptly, he was tackled into a hug.

"Markus! Y-you're here!"

Markus backed away, startled and confused. And then he saw his face. Those blue eyes held a certain emotion that he had only ever seen in one android.

"S-Simon?!"

"The o-one and only."

Simon smiled at him, eyes sparkling with tears. Pure elation emanated from his soul and Markus could feel his own eyes starting to, too. He grabbed him and pulled him back info the hug.

"I thought you died!"

"So did I."

Kamski's voice cut through.

"You nearly did. It was difficult to get you back in working order, even for me. I'll- I'll leave you to it."

The door shut and they were left in the room. Markus wiped his eyes.

"We won, Simon. We really did it."

"I always believed you could do it."

"Can- can I show you?"

The blond nodded once and reached out his hand. At first, it was just the memory of singing and the military retreating. Then, they felt each other's emotions. The joy, the sadness, the anger, the grief, the pain, the excitement. The love.

It felt as though they were not two entities, but one. They would never know for sure which one of them said "I love you" first.
