Lizzie's point of view

A week or so later I received a reply from Grace at breakfast on Monday. "Another letter from your sister" enquired Harry sitting down next to Ron opposite to me. "Yeah, in my last letter I told her about the three headed dog, the rest of my classes including the fiasco's with Malfoy, Hagrid and our theory connecting what is in Grigotts bank is now here at the school. She was going to do some research on the internet for me. It would've been a lot quicker than searching through the books. Although I admit it may only reveal a muggle perspective, so we still might have to find a reference about it any way but I thought it would be a good starting point. I wonder what took so long for her to reply though. Unless the weather was just bad that Snowy had to travel through" I commented opening up the letter, which read:

Dear Lizzie,

Yikes, that was a long letter you sent. Firstly, everyone says to stay away from that dog and the corridor. It's dangerous and was forbidden for a reason. Everyone had no idea that three headed dogs existed. Good for you guys for standing up for a classmate and congrats for making the quidditch team. You will have to describe it to me more after your first match. I wish we could come and watch. Sadly, muggles aren't allowed in Hogwarts according to Mrs Weasley and Mr Weasley. Do whatever you can to help Neville, is what I recommend. Hermione has the right thinking pattern, I don't recommend breaking the rules all the time though because it could backfire someday. Your classes seem interesting. You will have to tell me about them, especially history of magic. I wonder how much the history of Magic in the UK differs from here in the US. Just be patient, Hermione will get along with the boys eventually. Hagrid sounds nice and it shouldn't matter to you if he is (or not) half giant.

According to what I found on the web the name for a three headed dog is Cerberus. Which in Greek mythology is often called the hound of Hades that guards the gates of the Underworld to prevent the dead from leaving and is primarily known or his capture by Heracles, one of the twelve labours. It doesn't fit exactly with your description but I think it is similar. Hope that helps. Let me know what you find in your magical library. To be honest, if like you said Harry went to collect whatever it is from Gringotts bank with Hagrid to bring to your headmaster during the summer. Then it is most likely the same thing. So yes, I think you theory could possibly be true but I'm not 100 percent sure.  Dad advises keep your noses clean and just complete your school work to avoid danger.

Everyone is well here. Mum has attached another parcel of baked goods again. This time, those pumpkin scones you like with cream cheese. Middle school is alright but boring without my sister with me.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Love Grace.

"Here you go guys" I said dividing up the scones between my friends and me after packing away the letter. "Thanks Lizzie. So now we know that the three headed dog is a creature called Cerberus" said Harry thoughtfully. "Yup but we still don't know what it is doing here" I confirmed taking a bite of the pumpkin scone with cream cheese spread. "What's your plans for today besides lessons of course?" asked Ron before stuffing a forkful of sausage into his mouth. "Well, I actually forgot to ask this earlier but Hermione would you like to decorate our dorm for Halloween. You see it is a big thing over in the US and at home we have this tradition where we decorate the house for Halloween. In Middleton we have the fall festival on Halloween and the house we live in acts as a Haunted house which can be toured. It's one of the attractions that tourists come to see every year and locals love it too. Plus, my Mum thought we could do it. If there's enough we could potentially do the common room and you boys could help too if you want" I offered in hopes that the group would get along more afterwards.
