Nothing (A Harry Styles Fan Fic)

Chapter 2

We had only been open for 15 minutes and the place was already full. What was so important? We have never been this full. Tes and I were serving at least 15 tables each with 2 other severs. We originally had 8 servers but they had to go help the bar.

I only had one table open when a group of boys walked in and I immediately knew who they were. What were they doing here? In walked the one and only, One Direction. I was also the only one who had a table open. What was I supposed to do.

I guess Tes saw me cause she walked over.

"Kaitlyn? What's up? You look like you've seen a ghost" she said chuckling.

All I could do was point to where they were and stand still as she looked over.

"Is that who I think it is...."

"Yep" I answered.

Tes knew because when we meant it was only about 8 months after he left so I eventually had to tell her why I cried so much.

"I can cover your table for you if you want. I know that you are the only one with an open table left." She said looking concerned

"Can you? I'll take one of your tables for you."

"Yeah! Ill just just have to try to keep myself from kicking him in the nuts" she laughs while walking away to get them to their table even though we both know she is serious.

I walked over the table that I was taking from her and got their order.

After I gave it to the chef I walked back out and went back to work.

Everything was going well until about 15 minutes later the boys called me

"Excuse me Ms?" One with blonde hair called. He wasn't being rude at all but since he was with Harry. I didn't exactly want to help.

I hid my name tag in the very little chance that he remembered me.

"Hi, how may I help you?" I asked only making eye contact with the one who called me.

"Can you get us some drinks from the bar please?" He asked.

"Yeah. Can I just see all of your IDs. Trust me. You look old enough but I don't feel like getting fired" I tried to joke since I felt so awkward already.

"Yeah. I understand" he laughs with me.

I start taking their IDs and when I got to Harry I just kept my head down. I could feel him staring at me though.

"Okay. You guys are fine. I'll get your drinks. "

I walked over and called up the drinks. I could still feel him staring at me and I was really worried he would realize it was me. Why would he though? I mean, he left me for a reason. I look completely different then I used to also so maybe I'll get lucky.

I grabbed the drinks and walked over to serve them.

"Anything else you guys need?"

Then the thought I had been dreading happened.

"Kaitlyn?" Harry asked

I replied with the first thing that came to mind to get him to stop talking.

"Hm? Oh. My name isn't Kaitlyn... It's Madison. Sorry. But um if you guys need anything just ask Tes."

I walked away as fast as possible. That was really close.

45 MINUTES LATER

I was on break with Tes just talking.

She was going on about this super hot guy she was serving and I was just laughing with her.

My boss walked out and was standing by the door.

"Hey Kaitlyn. Can you maybe lead these gentlemen out the back door?" I was confused on why they had to go out the back and not the front.

"Um. Yeah sure. Where are they?"

"Brilliant. They are right here." And he stepped aside. My heart dropped to my stomach. I looked up only to lock eyes with Harry. I saw the realization in his eyes. He heard my boss say my name and now he also got a good look at my face but I was praying he wouldn't remember me.

I broke eye contact and started walking

"Follow me" I said hoping my voice wouldn't crack. I saw Tes clenching her fists and I knew when I got back there would be a lot of crying.

Nobody talked since it was only like a 30 second walk but it was just a lot of turns. I don't even understand why.

"Here you go" I said opening the door for them

"Thanks" they said.

I thought I was fine till I heard Harry say to the boys "I be there in a minute. I think I forgot something"

I decided to act like I hadn't heard anything until he called my name.

"Kaitlyn?" He asked quietly.

I wasn't gonna just tell him who I was.

"I told you my name was Madison silly" I said chuckling trying to sound remotely okay.

"Kaitlyn..... There is no point in pretending. I know who you are."

Don't Cry Kaitlyn. Don't cry Kaitlyn. Don't cry Kaitlyn.

"Hi Harry..."

There was no point in hiding it anymore. He already knew.

"I haven't seen you in forever!" He says trying to go for a hug but I back up

"What's wrong?"

"You can't be serious" I said. He's kidding right? Does he really not know?

"What do you mean. I haven't seen you in years. I just wanted to say hi to my best friend."

"First, that's not my fault. Second, I'm not your best friend and haven't been for 4 years.". He looked hurt by this and I almost took it back but I couldn't. I diverted my eyes and realized that he was wearing the best friend bracelet that we have had since we were 8 (I HAVE LOVED YOU SINCE WE WERE 18 😂😂 okay. Sorry. I had to). I couldn't believe he still had that.

I snapped out of my thoughts by him speaking.

"What do you mean. Whenever I get my mom to invite you over when I'm visiting you are busy or sick or something."

He was the one trying to invite me over? This boy used to always confuse me and still did.

"Did you think that after you just stopped communication with me on the X Factor that I would just run into your arms excited to have my best friend back? I know that your life is basically a fairy tale now, but I'm not going to be part of it." I say starting to walk away.

I felt him lightly grab me by the waist and turn me around. I ran into his chest. Dang. He had always been tall don't get me wrong but I was just at like his nose. Now I'm at his lower chest...

I stepped back a little bit and looked up.

"I couldn't call you. I wanted to call you every minute of every day. I wanted to tell you everything. But when we got put into a group and things started getting bigger. Management..."

I cut him off there.

"I don't want to hear 'management did this' and 'management did that'. I have heard enough lies from you Harry. And I don't think I can take anymore." And with that I turned around to go back to work.

As soon as I walked in Tes stood up arms open and I just ran over and started crying. I didn't know what else to do.

It felt exactly how it did the first time and I'm not sure I can do it again.
