A/N: I apologise if America is OOC, enjoy anyway

A breeze brushes through your hair as you laugh and talk with your relatives. Your cousins are out playing hide and seek in the yard, and some of the older relatives are sipping on some alcohol. Your parents are wishing your grandfather a happy birthday, as he happens to share a birthday with the country you live in.

Your uncle is frying some hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill, and when he finishes, he hollers, "Dinner's ready! Let's eat!"

Everyone grabs their dinner, and the talking and drinking resumes. No one has the audacity to get drunk, because there is still the fireworks show in the evening. After all, who would want to be wasted at the fireworks show?

You finish dinner fairly quickly, and decide to take a breather. While everyone is having fun out back, you slip to the front yard so that you can have time to think and daydream.

You study the words that reside on your wrist, that engraved themselves in a whimsical, blocky pattern.

"Sure is nice watching everyone celebrate my birthday, huh?"

You've always thought that to be an odd phrase, especially as the first words to a soulmate. The only place where you could realistically imagine those words to be uttered was at a birthday party. But you don't really go to any of those, and none of your male friends would ever say anything like that.

If you didn't know better, you'd say those letters look confident, a complete opposite of yourself.

Clearly, whoever your soulmate is definitely has an ego.

You zone out a little, your eyes blankly pointing in the general direction of the people across the street launching their celebratory fireworks.

A young man happens to notice you gazing upon the neighbors all by yourself, and being the guy he is, he decides to accompany you.

You're snapped from your small daze at the sight of a figure ascending the hill of your grandparents' front yard - more precisely, a tall guy with glasses. His baby blue eyes sparkle with joy in the sunlight, and his slightly messy hair is... kinda hot, actually.

You slap yourself at the thought and he looks at you strangely. He reaches the porch and sits down next to you, and you look away.

An awkward silence dominates the next few seconds before he decides to speak.

"Sure is nice watching everyone celebrate my birthday, huh?"

You freeze as a tingling sensation overtakes your entire body, and the feeling of your soul clicking into place goes right with it. You look at him incredulously, but only one thing comes to mind to say.

"They're celebrating America's birthday, you idiot, not yours."

He goes rigid for a second before chuckling darkly. "Man... Today... Tch, I never thought I'd find the one."

He looks at me and adds, "At least you're really cute!"

You can't help it. Your face explodes into a blush redder than the stripes on your beloved country's flag.

"W-what's your name?" you ask him.

"Alfred Jones, but you can call me the hero!"

You nod, and reply, "I'm (Name). (Name) (Last name)."

The two of you pause for a moment, before Alfred interrupts the silence.

"Your folks are out back, right?" he asks.

You nod.

"Let's go meet 'em!"

He takes you with as he hijacks the celebration, chiming in with many "Ayyy! It's my birthday too!"s. Your family gets a huge kick out of the fact that you found your soulmate on the Fourth of July, your grandpa's and his shared birthday.

Meanwhile, Alfred just prioritizes making the most out of this time. His true identity, the one which spurred your soulwords, can wait for another day.
