Chapter 19 | Two Worlds ApartPriorities.
They say action expresses priority. They say it's your decision about what to focus on, what things mean to you, and what you're going to do about them that will determine your ultimate destiny.
In my case, I know where my priorities lie. It's all crystal clear right now in my path.
If I want to impress the boss, I will need to do this. This is all for him; in order to make him proud.
Dean swings the door open, face lighting up when he sees me.
"Hey! Blaze! So glad you could make it." Dean says, as he opens the door for me.
"Me too," I walk in, my clicking heels echoes through the room, "I'm excited."
He leads me to the same couch where I sit. Rubbing his hands, he gives me a full smile, "So tonight, we're gonna take it easy, huh?"
I smile, "We should."
"Right. Lemme just go pop out the whiskey real quick."
"Oh, Dean." I stand up and touch his arm, "How about you let me? It's the least I could do for you having me over tonight."
He looks at me up and down jokingly, "Woah. What's with the sudden formality?"
"What do you mean?"
"Loosen up, Blaze." He chuckles, taking off his jacket and hanging it on a chair, "Let's have some fun."
I nod, plastering another smile, "I'll go prepare our drinks."
"Sure. I'll be right here." He says, after a while of debating. He plops down on the couch.
I turn around and casually scanned the penthouse. It didn't seem he had any work-related stuff lying around. Everything was neat and tidy.
I eyed the room at the corner. If he were to hide something, it would probably be at his bedroom.
I would need to infiltrate that tonight.
I reach his liquor cabinet, just across the sofas. Taking out a whiskey bottle, I pour some in two glasses. Subtly checking over my shoulder, I see Dean busying himself on his phone.
I delicately pull out a tiny case from my bra and take out a small blue pill.
Once I had dropped the pill into the drink, it fizzed quickly. The liquid returns back to its' original color. The taste wouldn't alter; no one would have even guessed there was something was in it.
With a few sips, it would slowly start to take effect in just a few minutes.
I stroll back and sit right across him. Seeing this, he tucks his phone back into his pocket and edges further to the seat.
Smiling, he takes the glass I give him, "This will taste even better because you prepared it."
He takes a full gulp and settles the glass on the table after.
"Actually, Blaze, there's something I've been meaning to talk to you about." He scratches the back of his neck as a sheepish look crosses his face.
"Sure." I say, taking a sip of my own. "What is it?"
"I've...been thinking about us. Like how we've spent tons of time with each other."
He fans himself with his top, "Woo! It's getting a bit hot in here." He laughs, furrowing his brows at the same time.
