Chapter 08 | The Baby In A Trench Coat

"You somehow manage to get yourself into these situations." The boss laughed, "So, our secret agent is now a secretary in disguise, I see."

"Yeah." I sighed. "It all happened so quickly."

"Well, as I always say, make use of any situation and put it into your own advantage. Do you understand?"

"Yes, boss."

"Right. Do you have anything else to report?" He asks over the screen.

It was the evening after the party. The boss and I were just wrapping up tonight's report over the video call.

"Nothing in particular. Except his executive assistant seem to have a lot of tension towards his boss."

"Really? What makes you say that?" He questions. Out of nowhere, he pulls out a folder, which I assume contains Cas' profile. As usual, the boss reacts quickly.

He scanned it sharply and swiftly as I talked. "It's just the way he glares or snaps at Dean. Generally, I don't feel any bad vibes from Cas, though. I don't think he is related to the underhand drug business, either."

"Perhaps I should do some of my own research on this Castiel." He hums in long thought before snapping the folder close. His focus comes back to me. "By the way, since when were you on first name basis with them, Rosabelle? Nicknames, even."

The question catches me off-guard. It made me think, too. I started calling them with their first names as well without me knowing.

"O-oh. Sorry, I got used to it. He said that's how they call each other at the office."

He chuckles. "No need to apologize, Rosabelle. I was just asking. Now, anything more to add to your report before we end this call? I honestly can't wait to go get some Popeyes after this. Like, my stomach needs it now!"

My eyes flit towards the box of cake. It sat innocently at the corner of my bed, ignorant of the turmoil it was causing inside me. Images of Dean flashes in my head. I was having a mental debate with myself. Should the boss know about this?

I gave him a tight-lipped smile, "Nothing else, boss. Not at all."

He nods.

Thank god. I was grateful he didn't catch that moment of hesitation. If he did, he'd eventually grill me into answering his questions.

"Excellent. Make this mission a success as soon as possible. I have faith in my favorite agent. You'll make me proud, won't you?"

The following morning, Dean had managed to convince Cas into giving me a tour of the office; that is, for a week's supply of burgers because they make him "very happy". Cas lighted up at a mention of 'burgers' so he agreed right away.

It was only half an hour later, as we stood at the middle of Cas' office alone, when he came to a realization. He was staring down at his shoes, frowning. "I think I just got...bribed."

"Cas, you know-"

"It's Castiel." He snaps.

Woah, okay. Is he really that upset because of Dean?
