Chapter Nine: Who the Hell is That?

Screams or terror erupted from the once cheerful crowd. More loud booms came from the wall as the colossal titan began to kick into it like he did years before. After the second kick, the wall was destroyed, and a large hole replaced what once was thick stone. Rubble flew in all directions, landing on homes and unlucky civilians.

Shit! Eren and the others are on the wall. As the realization hit me, I wasted no time in heading in the direction of the wall where the large Titans head peered over at the city.

"Y/n, where the hell are you going!" Levi was running right beside me. I didn't respond, instead moving faster.

Weaving through the crowd was hard as everyone was pushing each other in desperate attempts to escape. I didn't want to waste any gas, but it was the only option if I wanted to get there before anything worse happened. I shot the hooks into a nearby roof, landing hard on my feet, I sprinted and jumped roof to roof, Levi following closely after me.

As we approached the wall, we used our gear to hook on to it and propel ourselves up. When we finally reached the top, I frantically searched for my friends. I noticed Eren drawing his swords.

"Eren don't!" I shouted. But before anything else happened, the titan had disappeared. Just as he did the last time. Eren plummeted down and landed hard on the surface of the wall.

"Eren!" I slid over to him as he wailed hysterically. "That fucking bastard!" He slammed his fist into the ground. "Why can't I do anything about it? It's happening all over again!" His body and voice shook violently. I understood how he felt, yet I felt helpless as I watched him. I did the only thing I could think of. I wrapped my arms around him, he fell into them. He continued to mutter curses and other words too incoherent for me to understand.

"Eren, I know you're upset, but right now we have to help everyone. The titans are beginning to breach the wall again. You have your chance to do something now. We've been training for the last 3 years for this. You have to get it together."

Eren stopped crying and looked up at me, wiping his wet face quickly before standing up and out of my arms.

"She's right, Eren. We have to go" Mikasa said.

"Alright everyone get into groups!" Levi ordered.

"Marco, y/n, Sasha, Jean and Connie you all go to the west and try to take down as many titans as you can, do not let any reach the boats! Eren, Armin and Thomas you all head east, Mikasa you guide the civilians to the boats safely!" Levi barked his order quickly and we all did as we were told.

I looked over at my friends as we zipped through the air, trying my best to not to get distracted. "Aright guys this is no longer titan dummies, this is the real deal. try not to die, and don't hesitate to ask each other for help. Don't take on more than you can handle. We are all we got right now. Let's move quick!"

We stood at a nearby roof watching as the titans began their onslaught on the town. They were everywhere.

"Okay guys, let's move!" I ordered. Everyone nodded and sped off except for Jean. He was shaking, fear became a tangible, living force that crept over him, immobilizing him. I was confused at first, Jean was always boasting and parading himself around as some sort of force to be reckoned with.

"Jean move!" I said, trying to snap him out of it. "If you're not going to help us, go help Mikasa with the civilians!" I felt angry, the others were risking their lives to help, despite their own fears. And here Jean was unmoving, like he was willing to be easy titan prey.

I left Jean behind on the roof, I couldn't waste anymore time. I made my move as a 10 meter class titan was about to reach down for a little girl. I swiftly hooked my gear into its shoulder and used the gas in my tank to propel as fast as it could. I crashed my blades into its neck, they slid effortlessly through the skin of the nape. I quickly rotated mid air tossing down and grab the girl before the titans body crushed her. "Go on. Hurry and get to the boats." I pushed the girl forward and she sprinted towards the canal.
