Chapter 10

The next year goes bye and it's the last day of my summer after high school before I go off to college. I get excited and sad I am still with Derrick we fell in love the summer before high school. I wake up and text Derrick he asks me if I want to go to dinner tonight I say yes. Derrick already knows I am going to college and he is staying here to go to community college since he couldn't get into any he wanted to go to, and couldn't get into the one I am going to. I text Kate and tell her that Derrick is taking me to dinner tonight and she asks what I have for dresses.

I then make a video of my closet of dresses and send it to her. Once she sees it she tells me that I need a new dress and should go check and see if the mail came. I go check and the mail is here I bring it in. I look at it and see a letter from Kate I open it. Dear Hazel I wanted to send you a graduation gift sorry it took me so long to get to you.

Here is a gift card go buy something nice. From, Kate and Family. I text her and say thank you and she tells me to buy a dress for tonight with it, but wants to help pick it out. I ask mom if I can go to the mall and buy a dress for dinner tonight with Derrick, and how Kate sent me a gift card. She says sure.

We get to the mall, and I pick a bunch of dresses. I hand my phone to my mom and show her how to take pictures with it. She takes picture of every dress I try on and I send them to Kate. She tells me which one she likes and I end up liking it also. I go home and and get ready for tonight.

About 5pm Derrick comes and picks me up. I say goodbye to my mom and ask her what she is doing tonight she just says date night with your father he's on is way home. Derrick takes me out to dinner then we go to Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center. We walk around by now it's 6:30pm Derrick asks me to see if Kate can video chat I ask why and he just says please ask. I ask and she can so I do.

We keep walking and we get to a spot and my family and his family is there and his best friend Nate. I look at him and he takes the phone and tells Nate to hold it so Kate can see. Then he comes back to me and gets on one knee. "Hazel I have liked you from the first picture I saw of you". "Then when we meet I thought you were really beautiful".

"When I was sick how you came and took care of me". "We went to the concert together and the rain". "The beach". "I could go on and on". "But no matter what I love you with all my heart and no matter what else happens you were always there for me and me for you".

"I love you so much Hazel". He then takes out a box and opens it. "Will you marry me? " "OH MY GOSH". I start crying. "Yes I will I love you Derrick".

He then gets up and puts the ring on me, I hug and kiss him. Everyone claps and I take my phone from Nate. Kate congratulates us and I ask if I can FaceTime her when I get home. She says ok and let's me go. I then put my phone in my purse and hand my camera to my mom and ask if she can take pictures of us.

She agrees. We get pictures done and hang with family for a little then they leave. Nate stays and hangs with us we keep walking and looking at all the stuff. Then Nate leaves. Derrick and me keep walking then we go home.

Once we get to my house I let my parents know I am home just talking to Derrick in his truck. We keep talking and I start to cry. Derrick looks at me. "Baby why you crying"? "I'm just so happy to have you and now be your fiancé now, I love you so much."

"Aw baby I'm glad your happy". He whines away my tears and kisses me. I then look at my phone. "Derrick my parents want me in I don't want to go but I have to, and you know I promised Kate I would FaceTime her later". "Yes I forgot ok baby I'll let you go".

He kisses me again and I see lights flicker. "Derrick I have to go now I'm sorry baby". "Alright I'll call you in the morning". "Alright Derrick". I kiss him and get out of the truck yelling.

"I'm coming dad". I get into the house and text Derrick that I got in and I'll hear from him I the morning. I say good night to my parents get ready for bed, then I FaceTime Kate and go to sleep.
