Chapter 1
What Did I Miss

Today is a good day for our dearest of Treasury Secretaries. It is the day that he gets to show off his skills as a new member of President Washington's staff.
Alex fidgets with his sleeves nervously as he sits in a carriage heading to his new job. Ever since giving up his position as a lawyer he has been overly excited to show off in cabinet meetings. Alex grabs his papers and steps out of the carriage as is comes to a stop. He fumbles in his pockets, and draws out his money to pay the man who had brought him to work. Alex heads up the stairs of the building rather quickly and nearly misses the commotion in the entrance hall as he slips past into the main corridor. In the middle of the commotion stands a tall, rather smug looking individual. Everyone is chatting to him, shaking hands, and having coffee. Alex enters the hall between the two large pillars to the side entrance.

Burr stands a reasonable distance away, eyeing the brouhaha with a neutral expression.
"Well, if it isn't Aaron Burr!" Alex exclaims walking up to him.
"Alexander,"Burr says with a smile."Come to greet Mr. Jefferson I see."
"So this is the infamous Thomas Jefferson that went to France?" Alex asked.
"Indeed he is. I thought Washington wrote you a letter regarding his return?"
"I'm starting to think it would have been in my best interest to read it instead of storing it," Alex joked.
"Alexander!"
"I'm only fooling around Burr. Of course I read the letter. I may have forgotten is all."
"Hamilton!"
Alex hears his name being called and turns to see Washington beckoning him towards where he and Jefferson stood in the center of the room.
"I'm sorry Burr, I've got to go," Alex says and heads over to Washington.

Thomas gives a broad smile as Washington and James (Madison) welcome him home. He is struck with curiosity as Washington turns around and calls out 'Hamilton' with a motion to come towards us. Seeing said Hamilton walk towards them he formulates an assumption in his head. Small, eager, and definitely a pain in the ass. Hamilton hurries over and eagerly greets Thomas first.
"Mr. Jefferson, I'm Alexander Hamilton, welcome home!" Alex greets enthusiasticly and grabs Thomas's hand.
"Mr. Hamilton," Thomas says distastefully. "I've heard we'll be working together."
"Indeed so! I do hope you have prepared for our cabinet meeting, I've a fair few things I'd like to discuss."
"Of course," Jefferson scoffs. "France hasn't made me any less capable."
"No doubt you are Thomas," Washington said. "Hamilton, why don't you go run over some of these notes for me before our meeting. I want to make sure that everything is quite right."
Washington hands Hamilton a thick stack of paperwork.
"Of course sir, it'll be done within the hour," Hamilton replied. "It was nice meeting you Mr. Jefferson, I look forward to seeing you again"

Hamilton scurries off with Washington's papers and his own piled in his arms. He heads up to the 1st floor and into his office.

Thomas watches him leave with distaste.
"Is he always that enthusiastic?" He asks no one in particular. Washington chuckles at Thomas's response.
"It's quite astounding that he's even managed to make it this far."
Thomas, confused by this, raised an eyebrow. Washington hears the unspoken question and brushes it off.
"Hamilton is the one to ask, not me. He has had quite a rough life, and I wouldn't blame him if he were to work himself to his death by the end of the week," Washington said.
"I second that, he is just non stop," Burr said, strolling up to the trio. "Welcome back Mr. Jefferson. I do pray they have not turned you insane in France."
Thomas chortled.
"So formal Aaron. I thought we were friends," he mocked.
"Indeed we are," Burr smiled. "I better go and watch that Alexander doesn't write us out of paper. It was nice seeing you again Thomas."

Burr went up to Hamilton's office and went over the paperwork with him.

Okay this kinda sucked but I needed to start this somewhere. My chapters will definitely be longer than this one in future.

In my story Burr and Jefferson met at some point before Jefferson went to France. I really don't know shit about history xD

Please give me ideas for this story, cause it's gonna end up being kinda sucky of I carry on with no plot.
