Chapter 14: King Herod's Crown

Ambrose has been looking for any clues to where the crown might be. He told me to go home and rest for a while. I couldn't rest, but I thought, Icould ask my parents. They knew nothing.

Then he summoned me to the library...

"So, any ideas? Or clue?" I ask.
"Yes..." He replies.

He explains to that the crown is in Riverdale... Before my parents and I came to Greendale, we lived in Riverdale.

Every month, well at the end of it, I was allowed to have an 'all you can eat' buffet type of thing at Pops. I could get what ever I wanted as treat. My favourite meal were always fries and a vanilla milkshake.

I was always given a candy by one of the worker for finishing all my food. I mean, how could I not? THEY WERE FREAKIN' AMAZING!!! Anyways, we drive to Riverdale and get the crown.

We're at the Carnival. I peel off from the fright club and go into the fortune-telling tent. A woman with dark hair was sitting.

"Would you like a reading?" She asks.
I sit on the chair.
"Actually, I've met someone. I hate him-"
"No. No, you don't..."
"You're right, hate is a strong word. I strongly despise him... Anyways, I'm trying to earn something, and he is my competition.... Will I win?" I ask.

"Only you two can decide that." She says.
"What do you mean?" I ask.
"If this man or woman, but I have a feeling it's a man, was with you, I could look envision further into your future, but, I have a feeling, your fates cross."
"Fates?" I ask.

"Only you two can decide that. Power or what's inside the one thing that keeps you alive. Or you can have both. Only you two can decide that." She whispers. She gives me a really weird, scary look and I run out.

My breath starts to cry and my eyes start to water. I look around and see soo many happy, normal people. If only that could be me, carefree... I walk futher and see Roz and Harvey throwing some darts, laughing like any other couple, Kinda reminds me of To-... nevermind.

I hug myself as I find my body drifting to The Tunnel of Love. There was a carnival ages ago, Tommy and I went together. We even went in The Tunnel of Love. I close my eyes and without me meaning to cry, tears roll down my cheek. I notice and stop hugging myself before wiping my tears away.

I turn around and see a scary man covered in maple syrup. I run into the outside of The Tunnel. 'Brina and Nick are coming out. Nick leaves and I'm left with 'Brina.

" 'Brina! I swear to Lilith that there is a man there, wearing King Herod's crown!" I whisper. She screams after I say this, I turn around and see the man. Nick comes back and sees, he tries to help.

"Bri, wait. I'll try to get some help!" Sabrina alerts me before running to get some help. Nick manages to throw the crown on the floor. The maple syrup man throws me onto the wall and I crawl to the crown. Caliban appears outta' nowhere.

"Caliban! What are you doing?! Nevermind that, help us!" I yell.
"Oh Bridget... As beautifulas you, I am tempted, but sadly, no." He says and disappears. Nick fights King Herod who has just revealed his identity, then Ambrose appears and King Herod explodes.

I burst into Pandemonium, covered in Herod's remains. That smug bastard is standing there wearing the crown that I found.

"YOU SON OF AN ANGEL!" I whisper angrily.
"My lady, what do you think of my crown? It's just temporary untill I win the Infernal crown, of course..." He asks with a smug smile. I strike him across the face and all the demons cheer.

"My friend, her boyfriend, I, could've nearly died. Why didn't you help us!?" I ask.
"My lady, this is a competition. There is no helping each other! I was watching,... closely... " He announces.
"If you were following me, did you know King Herod was coming for his crown?!" I ask loudly.
"Everyone knows that King Herod is a Guardian. I thought you'd kill him, or he'd kill you... or perhaps, you would kill each other. A true monarch knows strategy. Now, you didn't answer my Question, the crown suits me, don't you agree?"

I strike him again and this time his crown drops as well.

"The first round is yours, enjoy it, because I promise you, it'll be the last one you'll win. And I swear, I'll slice your throat ear-to-ear before I let you have my throne..." I shout out loud and the demons chant my name out loud.

Now, all we have to do now is get through the Hare Moon without something else going terribly wrong and disastrous. But first, I need to visit the Dark Lord.

"Lucifer..." I walk into the dungeons.
"Ahh... my successor. Enjoying the throne so far? What am I talking about, of course you are!" He growls. I give him a fake smile.

"I came here to see you because.. I.. well... I have been manifesting some... new powers..." I inform Lucifer.
"Powers, tell me of them?" Lucifer asks.
"Controlling elements... I was researching for an item and I somehow, absorbed the knowledge from the book. And, like Sabrina has done, I can sometimes perform spells without incantations, and..."
"And, what?"
"Telekinesis..."

"Child... only time will tell. Believe it or not, I'm not such a reliable messenger." He warns.
"Oh, I believe that!" I whisper, "Listen, I'm not here to smooth-talk you. I just want an answer. That's all, it's really not that hard. Just tell me." I ask.

"Bridget. You may be my daughter's friend and a person I hate, strongly, but I will say this, embrace your power. I didn't give you this power. It's in your blood. Only you can wield it, Mother Nature chose you."
"You gotta' love Mother Nature!" I mock.

"And tell your coven. No matter what they do, I will always be their god. I will follow them. I am the Great Satan that no prison may contain, not even this one." He informs me. I snort at the 'no prison may continue'.

I leave the dungeons and go home, thinking about his words. He's planning something, I can feel it but I'm hoping that I'm just being paranoid.
