The man's scream ringed in my ears and tumbled harshly through my skull.
But I didn't stop.
I gouged out his eyes using nothing but my fingers. I detested the way my heart accelerated with excitement each time I tortured someone. It was strange to have my mind despise something that the rest of me yearned for.
The man's wailing morphed into miserable sobs.
I removed my bloodied hands and stood over him. "You've looked at your last underaged girl," I growled.
The criminal whimpered and started weakly backing away from his spot in the middle of his bedroom floor. He had been in the midst of pleasuring himself to inappropriate photos of girls on his laptop who were drastically under the legal age when I decided to make my intrusion. I crushed his device before doing the same to his eye sockets. He was now completely blind.
If only I could just stop here....
"P...Please!" he begged, still struggling to back away. His face was unrecognizable curtesy of my modifications. "I-I promise...I'll s-s-stop."
I raised an eyebrow even though he couldn't see me. "Can you stop?" I challenged. "Can a monster go against his nature and stop being who he is? Even if it's written in his DNA?" I shook my head. "I'm afraid you and I are both doomed. So, I'll do you a favor and put you out of your misery now."
He cried and pleaded some more.
"You should have stayed in prison." I slowly stalked him. "Children would have been safe from you. And you, would have been safe from me." My eyes morphed and my body lunged towards him the same second he released another earsplitting scream.
I cleaned myself in the predator's bathroom before sneaking out the same window I entered.
I took my time walking home. It was well past midnight, but it would still be another couple of hours before dawn.
Dawn....
A familiar pang of guilt and self-loathing stabbed at me as I thought about the girl with the bright warm energy. Warm was an understatement though.
Dawn was like fire.
I really hoped she would take my mother's offer because I needed to figure out who she was and why she was able to affect me the way she did.
I recalled when she put her hand on my arm earlier at the restaurant. More of that warm sensation she possessed had coursed through me, almost like a drug. I could easily imagine myself becoming addicted to it.
Addicted to her.
When we touch, I feel like a different person. My dark impulses seem to evaporate immediately. That is, until our brief physical contact is over. On my own, I'm able to suppress my killer instincts enough to appear normal on most days, but the need is always there. I can always feel this evil desire lurking deep inside me, like a tiger hiding in the tall grass waiting for his next chance to attack.
I cut through a back alleyway just a couple blocks away from Deorc Manor. I wasn't surprised to find Marlon finishing his latest victim. His back faced me as he crouched over the body. When he was back on his feet, Marlon sighed with relief and rolled his shoulders. His pinned-up tension of needing to murder had been lifted. It didn't take him long to notice I was watching him. His eyes still held their red and glowed tint.
