Third Person

Knot's mother is sitting in front of Knot's therapist. Dr. Krass. Minerva is worried. It had been six months since Arthit and Knot had divorced. Six months since Arthit had left Thailand. Six months since her son had been in a mental institution.

It had taken all of her husband's remaining resources in order to have her son not be thrown in jail. Knot was now doing five years in a mental institution. Her own husband had received two years in prison for his own involvement. Minerva knew that her husband had chosen to take the blame for the things Knot did. Her husband had implicated himself in the case. He had allowed his son to use his police officers for personal use, which in itself was also his fault. Her husband had not been aware of what Knot had been doing. Even so, he had taken the blame in order for their son to have less time in jail.

She remembered the last time she had seen Arthit and her heart still ached.

Minerva was not surprised when Arthit was not present for Knot's hearing. Based on the evidence that Kongpob and Forth had both provided the judge had not hesitated to grant Arthit the divorce that he was seeking. No money was given to Arthit after their divorce. He had signed a prenup but they had been married for five years.

Arthit had every right to ask for money but he had chosen to simply walk away. The only thing he asked for was his paintings that he had in what had been his home with Knot. The judge had granted it.  Her son had been arrested for domestic abuse, breaking and entering, and attempted kidnapping. Five years. She and her husband would plea insanity in court for their son and hoped for the best and in the end, the judge has granted Knot to be transferred into a mental facility after his mental evaluation.

Minerva had taken her chance after the trial to approach both Forth and Kongpob.

"I'd like to talk to Arthit."

"Arthit doesn't want anything to do with your family."  Forth had spoken up. Minerva now knew that Arthit was the long lost Jaturapoom heir and what Sirkit had done. She could tell that Forth was overprotective of Arthit. She could not blame him, after all, he was Arthit's big brother and despite not growing up with him it was clear to Minerva that the man loved and cared for Arthit already.

"I'd like to apologize to him for everything my son and our family have done to him... He can come pick up the paintings at his home..."

"That place was never his home. It was his prison. Your son didn't deserve him." Forth spoke up angrily.

"Kongpob..." Minerva chose to plead with him.

"I can't ask that of him. Your family has put him through enough. Arthit doesn't deserve this and he doesn't have to accept an apology. I'm sorry but I am not going to ask him to meet with you. He's told me about all the horrible things you put him through. Knot wasn't the only problem. You and your husband also contributed to his torment. Being gay doesn't make Arthit any less of a man than straight man, he's still a man. Being gay doesn't make him a woman. Being gay doesn't make him any less human."

"I know..." Minerva can't meet Kongpob's eyes because she's too ashamed of her own actions.

"I'd just like to tell him how sorry I am. I know he doesn't have to accept my apology I just hope that he knows that I do regret my actions."

"Kongpob. Let's go. Yo and Arthit are waiting for you." Forth speaks coldly. Kongpob doesn't say anything else to her and simply walks away with Forth leaving Minerva standing there by herself.
