I felt a pair of eyes on me as I began to wake up. "Oh good, I didn't have to wake you up" I recognized Mattia's voice and could slightly see him through my blurred vision. "There's clean clothes in the bathroom for you" he pointed at the bathroom that connected to the room. "Wait! Where are you going?" I finally sat up and rubbed my eyes. "I told you, I have stuff to do in the mornings. If you don't mind being late to school then you can come too" I thought for a moment before nodding my head. "Shower quick please"

He left the room so I could get ready for the day. When I walked into the bathroom I noticed the neatly stacked pile of clothes. A hoodie and sweats. Good enough.

After I showered I walked down the hall, toward the front door. I paused when I heard Mattia mumble something to himself in his room. I peeked past the door frame. He was putting a chain around his neck and tucking it under his shirt. I watched as he sprayed himself with cologne and ran his hand through his hair.

"What are you doing?" I froze when I heard Gianluca's voice from behind me. "This didn't happen, okay?" I looked at him with wide eyes and my hands up. He slowly nodded and so I followed him to the front door. "You guys ready?" Mattia twirled the keys around his finger. I answered by opening the door and gesturing for Gianluca to exit the house.

I can't even look at Mattia without thinking about how I was caught spying on him by his little brother. I don't even know why I looked for so long! It's not my fault! It just happened!

We pulled out of the driveway in silence. Traffic began to build up as we kept going. I noticed how tight Mattia gripped the wheel when we weren't moving because his knuckles would turn white. "Calm down dude" I looked at him and nodded toward to his little brother to remind him that he was still in the car. "Stop trying to teach me how to drive" he spoke between gritted teeth. I looked at his hands and laughed. "You still loosened your grip" he clicked his tongue and sighed. "Shut the fuck up"

The car finally came to a stop in front of a diner. "Why'd we come all the way over here for this?" I noticed Mattia groan and rub his forehead. "Oh my god I should've just left you there" he mumbled loud enough for me to hear. I scoffed but still continued to follow him inside.

We took our orders and ate in silence after they arrived. The silence was killing me so I finally chose to speak up. "You guys are literally so boring! Diners are supposed to be cool and fun!" Gianluca glanced at Mattia after I finished with my complaints. "Mattia doesn't like to be nice around people. Yesterday it was fun but now that you're here he's acting like a weenie" my jaw dropped in realization. "Oh my god... Mattia! You're a softie?!"

Gianluca began to poke his side when he turned away. "Stop it bitch!" He shoved his little brother's hand away. I laughed at their playful banter. "Woah this is still crazy to me" I smiled at the two. "Alright we gotta go" Mattia wiped his mouth with a napkin before getting up from his seat. "What? No! We just started to have fun" I pouted and followed the two out the door.

Mattia ignored what I said and began to drive in another direction that I didn't know where it led to. "Why are we going to do many weird places?" Mattia finally seemed to snap after so many questions. "Why does it matter? My parents aren't around and I don't know how to do shit when it comes to little kids! Home ec was supposed to help me but it hasn't! I have to feed my little brother and take him to school every morning! I'm waiting for my mom to come back home so she can do her fucking job as a parent! After I drop him off I have to buy him lunch and take it to him! From there, I go to school and deal with my own crap" I shut myself up and glanced in the rear view mirror. I noticed two small tears stream down Gianluca's face.

"What's wrong?" Mattia asked after we pulled up to the school. His little brother just opened the door and started to get out of the car. "Kiss on the cheek?" Mattia looked at him with sad eyes. "Don't talk to me" he closed the door and walked inside the elementary school.

I gulped and didn't dare to look at him. "I'm sorry" I said quietly and tapped my fingers on my knee. "Doesn't matter. Forget any of this ever happened. It was just a project anyways" he stopped in front of our high school. The bell just rang so the hallways began to empty. "I gotta go get his lunch. See you around shorty" I got out of the car and, just like that, he sped off.
