Third person

It had been a whole week since Mattia kicked Kairi out. Mattia stopped showing up to school after that. It drove Kairi nuts. Every day he checked his seat but it remained empty. He couldn't take it anymore and he started to grow impatient.

"Are you good? You've been acting pretty strange almost everyday now" Diego was genuinely concerned for the boy. He hadn't been doing his work lately and he stared into space almost every time they were in the class. "Do you know what happened to Mattia? I don't think he's okay" Kairi twiddled his thumbs.

Diego also took notice to the fact that Kairi's hair was always a mess and he wore the same hoodie every day.

"Fuck. I told you not to talk to him anymore! This is what he does every single time. He probably dropped out again. I can help you but please keep me out of it" Kairi nodded his head quickly. He took this as a chance to bring up what he had been trying to say without sounding weird. "Since you're doing me a favor I can give you one in return. I can set you up with that girl Taylor" Diego was packing his things but stopped for a split second when he heard Kairi.

"I don't talk to girls like her" he went back to putting his stuff away. Those words alone made Kairi fume. He rolled up his sleeves and clenched his fists, ready to throw hands. "What do you mean girls like her?" He spoke between gritted teeth. "She's a pretty girl. Girls like her don't talk to guys like me, now come on let's go" Kairi's face noticeably softened. Before he could say anything Diego grabbed his wrist and dragged him out of the classroom.

Kairi waited impatiently while Diego made a quick phone call, exchanging little to no words. After a few moments another boy walked into the restroom they were hiding in. He towered over them, curls covering his eyes.

The boy reached into his back pocket and took his phone out. He clicked a few things and then shoved the screen in their faces. "He still sends streaks so he's not dead" the screen displayed a lazily drawn 's' with Mattia's name in the corner. "I'm Robert. I'm pretty sure Diego here forgot to mention that we used to be part of Matti's friend group" the tall boy now known as Robert had a tight lipped smile on his face.

He and Diego exchanged a glance before turning to Kairi who stood there with total confusion. "We need one more person but he blocked our numbers and then blocked us out of his life so we need your phone to call him" Robert extended his arm. Without hesitation Kairi dropped his phone in the other boy's hand.

Now Robert was the one on the phone while Kairi and Diego stood there. Neither of them could make it what Robert had said. Not even a minute passed and there was another person barging in.

"Make it quick. I'm not doing this bullshit again" he handed his phone to Robert. After taking one glance he gave it back. "This is Alvaro. He has Mattia's phone tracked on 'find my'. He never goes anywhere without his phone so he's definitely there. Keep us updated" Robert directed his last sentence to Alvaro.

Both Diego and Alvaro left. "You don't mind skipping, right?" Kairi shook his head and so they both squeezed their way through the tiny window slit on the wall of the bathroom.

After getting into Robert's car they drove off in the direction Mattia was.

"Diego was Jenna's best friend and Alvaro was Mattia's. None of us meant shit besides Jenna. We were all just pawns in her game. She was Mattia's queen and he was temporarily her king. Everything was fine until they started to argue. We were a group but Diego sided with Jenna and Alvaro sided with Mattia. I wasn't just going to pick a friend. I guess I didn't matter that much because I was kicked from the group first because I wouldn't be the tie breaker. Mattia ended up apologizing every single time even though it should've been Jenna. That's when Alvaro was kicked. He still thought it was Jenna who was wrong and that's what he stood by. Eventually Mattia got tired of Alvaro always disagreeing with Jenna even though he was only standing up for him. Diego was kicked when Jenna and Mattia both thought he was just being an annoying third wheel. They said he shouldn't be so nosy when they argued. When there was no longer a group and only a duo, there was no support. Jenna only pushed Mattia down until he was so close to hitting rock bottom and she broke up with him. He fell hard for her. We tried to help him feel better but he only pushed us away. He started to get into drugs. I became the only person who still tried to get him back on his feet. That ended when I went to his house because he wasn't answering my texts. The place was trashed. I found him on his bed. At first I thought he was sleeping but when I tried to wake him up he didn't respond. I filled a bowl with ice and water and dumped it on him but there was nothing. He overdosed, Kairi. I stopped helping him because, after I saw him so close to death, I realized there was no way out for him"

So this chapter was a little boring until Robert's little backstory :/
