When The Doctor Goes Blind

The Transmission

 A/N  Alright Here is Chapter 4! The ship is Dratchet and Ratchet is slowly getting depressed. Now, last time where we left off, Wheeljack is chosen to be Ratchet's temporary caregiver and he is also slowly coming up with a plan to get Drift and his brother Ratchet together. What will happen next? 

A few days had past since Optimus sent a message for the Lost Light and Wheeljack was helping ratchet learn how to get around base blind. He stayed close to his younger brother and swiftly blocked him from walking into walls or something pointy he also saved him from face planting a few times. Suddenly there was a alert from the computer and Wheeljack abandoned his brother to check it out. Turns out they were getting a transmission from the Lost Light. Wheeljack quickly answered the call and the humans swarmed him out of curiosity.

A red and orange mech appeared on screen and gave Wheeljack a weird look "Uhh where's prime? He sent us a message" Wheeljack looked around the main room hoping Optimus was watching but he wasn't so he quickly commed Optimus. It wasn't long before Optimus came over and Wheeljack went to find his brother. When Wheeljack found Ratchet he had his servos on the walls trying to find the main room. Wheeljack took one of Ratchet's servo and took him to the main room. "W-Wheeljack let me go! I can figure it out on my own!" Ratchet protested but Wheeljack ignored him. Ratchet was pushed on a crate as he listened to Optimus's and the unknown mech's conversation.

"Captain Hot Rod, you and your crew are needed on Earth. My medic Ratchet has become blind from a decepticon attack and we can't go on with a medic. Your medic First Aid was Ratchet's apprentice and would be a good successor for Ratchet. It would also be wonderful to have more fighters to fight against the decepticons."

Hot Rod stared at Optimus blankly before sighing "Alright Prime, we will be there in two solar cycles" he replied.

Optimus was about to cut the com before Wheeljack came over and stopped him "Hot Rod right? Is drift on your ship? I would like to talk to him for a moment." Hot Rod's stoic expression turned into a confused one but he nodded and went off screen. A few short moments a mostly white mech appeared on screen "hello? Rodi told me some mech wanted to speak with me." When Ratchet heard the new mech's voice he perked up in surprise "Drift?" He gasped quietly but the new mech didn't hear.

Wheeljack looked at Drift and grinned. Miko quickly caught onto what Wheeljack was doing, that must have been the mech Wheeljack wanted to set up with Ratchet.

"Remember me Drifty?" Wheeljack began as he stared into the mech's soul. Drift looked very surprised to see Wheeljack on his screen "Wheeljack? I thought you were dead. Of course I remember you, I had to ask you for permission to-" he cut himself off when he noticed Ratchet in the background staring blankly at the screen with unlit optics. The sight of a blind Ratchet both surprised and scared Drift "Wheeljack, is that Ratchet? What happened? Why is he blind? Can he be fixed?" He questioned the wrecker extremely worried.

Wheeljack's shoulders slumped forwards a bit not liking to talk about Ratchet's condition but if he was going to play match maker with Drift and his brother he'll have to explain. "Yeah, That's the doc. He was blinded in a fight with the 'cons a few days ago. His optics were severely damaged and he'll never be able to see again" Wheeljack sounded a bit choked up at the thought of his brother's fate.

Drift frowned and he ended up looking a bit guilty "I should have been there or this wouldn't have happened." Wheeljack shook his head no "you couldn't help but be so far away, I should have been there after all he's my brother. However, what's done is done and right now we need to make him comfortable with his disability and get a new medic." Drift nodded in agreement with the wrecker's statement "I will be there in two solar cycles and we can make a plan from there." Drift then ended the call.

Wheeljack couldn't help but smirk as his plan was starting to come together. Wheeljack watched Optimus take ratchet away for a check-up and that's when miko started with the questions. "Was the Drift? Is that the guy you're going to get ratchet to date? Does Ratchet even like him?" Wheeljack was surprised that she didn't ask any more questions and he waited a moment before answering. When he was sure that Miko was done asking questions he answered her questions "Yes, that was Drift and yes, that's the mech I'm trying to convince to 'date' Ratchet. Drift does like the doc, he asked me if he could court him, I said yes but they got separated before he could ask." Miko turned her head curiously and stared up at the Italian coloured mech "why?"

Wheeljack stared at the girl for a solid moment trying to think of an answer before he completely caved in. "The Doc has been feeling really depressed and he has been feeling completely useless because of his blindness. If I get him with Drift just like he always wanted he will possibly feel better and make him feel more useful." He admitted. Miko frowned a bit feeling bad that the seemingly unbreakable medic was cracking from his disability and she now felt more determined to help Wheeljack in his mission to get Drift and Ratchet together.
