kaitlyn's pov

bri and i rummage through my messy closet in order to find my bikini's. i have a few bikini's that are too big for me so bri will fit perfectly. i wish i was a thick queen like her.

bri settles on a red topped bikini with floral bottoms while i go with a blue marble patterned type of bikini. (pictured below).

if they're not going to include us in their party then we'll include ourselves by ourselves. who's to say that we can't join them?

"the key is to piss off my brother and his friends." i give bri a thumbs up as we climb up the ladder to the roof.

"are you sure about this?" she crosses her arms nervously.

"positive." i wink as we step onto the roof.

"who's first?" she nods toward the pool.

"the floor is yours. don't mess it up." i joke.

"the pressure is on." she crosses her heart before jumping into the pool with her knees tucked to her chest.

as soon as bri gets out of the pool, i see bryce go up to her and she points at the roof to where i'm standing.

i nervously wave at him as he calls for my brother.

"kaitlyn, get down! it is not safe. you're not jumping off the roof and into the pool. what if you get hurt?" griffin demands.

i start mouthing words to them pretending like i can't hear them.

brielle awkwardly steps away from the two boys and accidentally bumps into jaden who then looks up
and sees me standing on the roof.

"kaitlyn johnson. get down here now. you will be in so much trouble if you jump into that pool." griffin yells but i still pretend like i don't hear him.

i point to my ears and mouth "i can't hear you".

"don't make me come up there!" bryce steps in.

"if you move one more muscle then so help me god-." griffin says before i accidentally slip off the edge and roll my ankle.

just then i feel a tight grip around my waist and all of a sudden i'm being carried away from the edge.

"thank me later." jaden bites his lips with his hands still around my waist.

"i was going to jump. thanks for ruining it. i wanted to prove to griffin that i could do one thing on my own without getting hurt." i jerk out of his grip.

"kait... i was just trying to save you." he explains with  a butt-hurtness tone in his voice.

"i don't need your saving, jaden. what i need is freedom!" i turn around to face the opposite direction of him.

"don't be like that." he softly says.

"maybe i'm overreacting." i sit down on the roof slyly.

"i'm not even mad at you." he scoots behind me so that i'm in his lap but with my back towards him still.

"hopefully my brother fucks off now." i play with the string on my bikini.

"i like when you're fiesty." he rests his hands on my sides.

"why's that?" i turn my head to look at him in the eyes.

"because it's funny." he laughs and rolls his eyes at the same time.

"such a dork. you find everything funny." i playfully hit him on the knee.

"your face is funny." he jokes.

"very funny, dickhead." i lay into him.

"nice bikini. i've never seen you wear this one before." he compliments.

"you noticed? i didn't think anybody paid any attention to my bikinis." i think deeply in thought and realize that nobody has ever complimented my bikinis before.

"trust me, people pay attention all right." he says but there's a comedic melody to his voice.

"is it because i have an ugly body?" i wonder out loud on accident, "shit, i didn't mean to say that." i apologize.

"your body is really nice, kait. don't change for anybody. you're perfect." he hugs me from behind just as bri gets on the roof.

"am i interrupting anything?" she puts her hands up in defense.

"not at all. what's up?" i immediately say.

"am i sleeping over or what?" she pops a candy into her mouth.

"yeah, let's go make some popcorn and go watch a movie in the mini theatre." i say as i get up from the roof.

"can i come?" jaden asks with puppy dog eyes.

"no boys allowed. sorry, kiddo." i pet his head as a joke and then walk away.

"what's his deal?" bri motions back to jaden.

"i slipped off the edge and he saved me from falling and possibly hurting myself so i snapped at him and then we made up." i explain to her.

"did you guys kiss or?" she grabs my shoulders and looks me in the eyes.

"of course not. why would we?" i shake my head at her.

"just wondering because someone we know has a crush on jaden and they're trying to get with him. i told her that he was single and she wants to start hanging with us so that she can get closer to jaden." bri explains to me with so much emotion that it's so hard to comprehend.

"so she's using us?"

"sort of." she admits.

"hell to the no. you're not using me to date my best guy friend." i shut down the idea.

"come on, katie. she's new to town too. her name is paisley and she's got wavy blonde hair with blue eyes. isn't that jaden's type?" she questions.

"madison wasn't a full blonde though. she also had straight hair." i point out.

"he likes girls with blue eyes. maybe that's why he never dated you." she looks up to the ceiling as if she's imagining why he never dated me.

"i'm sorry that i was born with hazel grey eyes." i pout as i put the popcorn into the microwave.

"you're jealous." she makes fun of me.

"and that's a lie." i grab sodas from the cooler.

"just saying!" she sing-songs while walking away to go to the mini theater.
