don't want to like you

kaitlyn's pov

today's the day that i get my driver's license. jaden volunteered to let me drive his car to the dealership so that i could take my test. his eye also hasn't fully healed yet and he needs me to drive him somewhere after my test.

i'm clearly nervous. jaden plays calming music so that my nerves will calm themselves down. griffin will murder me if i fail this test. he's paying $300 out of pocket for me to take this damn thing and if i fail then it'll be another $300 for me to retest.

once we get there, jaden gives me a pep talk on what to do and tells me to remember to breathe.

during the test, the instructor makes me stop at two stop signs, make a few turns, parallel park, regularly park, and a few other things.

after my test, jaden and i wait inside the dealership
for my test results. i'm panicking inside and i know that he can tell. he grabs my hand and squeezes it tightly as i bounce my leg up and down vigorously.

"kaitlyn elizabeth johnson." the lady calls my name and i get up.

"that's me." i announce to her.

"your results are in. are you ready?" she looks up from the paper.

i nod.

"kaitlyn johnson has passed her driver's test and is eligible to receive the paper copy of her driver's license." the lady reads to me the exciting news.

"thank you so much!" i thank her as she hands to me the paper copy of my license.

i quickly rush over to jaden who's busy on his phone.

"i passed!" i jump up and down like a little kid.

"i knew you would." he gets up and hugs me.

"i did everything you said." i bite my lip softly.

"let's go out for ice cream and then we can go to the mall." he takes my paper license out of my hand and looks at it intently.

"sounds good to me but you don't have to spoil me, jay." i shyly admit.

"who said i'm paying?" he gives me a dirty look.

"oh, i'm sorry." i apologize sadly.

"i'm kidding. holy shit. did i upset you? i'm sorry! i thought it'd be funny. i love messing with you." he looks over at me as we get into the car.

"i thought you were legit. you're always messing with me but it's cool. i'll just have to get you back one day." i reverse out of the space.

"as if you ever could. i'm too good." he scoffs like a drama queen.

"try again." i glance at him through the corner of my eye.

"your pranks and antics always fail on me. i'm just too smart for anyone. you and your brother always fail at trying to fool me. it just never works." he explains.

"pfft i'll get you one day." i look over at him quickly before returning my gaze back onto the road in front of us.

"never in a million years." he bets.

"the bet is on, hossler." i confirm.

"turn here. we'll go to this ice cream place since it's closest to the mall. don't go to the one by our house. it's farther." he points to where i need to turn.

"good point." i signal to turn into the right lane.

after our ice cream, jaden runs into the mall to get what he needs and then we drive back home.

"hello, is anybody home?" i shout slamming the front door but almost slamming it on jaden.

"they're all out, remember?" jaden throws his bag of shit from the mall onto the floor.

"lies. kio's car is here." i rush around the house looking for him.

"kio, are you-" i stop mid sentence, "bri, what're you doing in kio's bed?" i raise an eyebrow at her.

"i guess i just lost my virginity?" she almost questions but also smiles.

"congrats! now put some fucking clothes on." i joke with her.

"you're just mad because you're a virgin still." she pouts.

"not for long." i wink jokingly at her.

"bitch, with who? you're single." she honestly answers.

"you're not wrong." i praise her.

"i know. now go! kio will be back in a minute. he's taking a shit." she shoos me away.

"yes mama brielle." i smirk before leaving.

i walk downstairs and stop halfway down the stairs when i see jaden kissing mads. my anger level rises in me. i'm not jealous or heart broken. jaden's my best friend. umm he's not only my best friend but he's one of my brother's friends. BROTHER as in GRIFFIN. why am i feeling like this? could it of been that stupid meaningless kiss? i like him. god dammit what the fuck, jaden. how do i unlike you? i don't want to like you! this is so wrong...
