kaitlyn's pov

it's been a few days since griffin and i had our falling out. we've barely spoken to each other since then. i feel fine but i'm not sure that he does.

bryce suggested that we all take a trip to the hype house so that's what we're doing.

once we get there, dixie runs up to my brother and jumps into his arms. are they dating yet?

i watch as everybody goes their separate ways leaving me alone until charli comes up to me and asks if i want to make a tiktok.

we're in the middle of learning new tiktok dances when mads comes in out of nowhere.

"what are you doing here?" jaden rushes to her frantically.

"i came to see you." she shrugs.

"let's go outside." he suggests walking ahead of her.

everyone looks at each other and bryce coughs awkwardly.

jaden comes back in but without madison. how weird.

"everything alright?" chase asks.

"we officially ended things." jaden nods.

"and you're happy about that why?" avani chuckles.

"things weren't meant to be. she wants to see other people. why make her stay when she wants to go?" he explains.

"do you need to talk, bro?" addison gives him a sad face.

"i'm gucci." he tells us but i know he's lying.

jaden goes to take a seat on the couch and watches us make our tiktoks.

after we get back to our house, i go up to jaden's room and knock on his door.

"come in." he gives me the okay.

"don't lie to me. are you alright?" i walk into his room quickly.

"close the door." he tells me.

"but griffin-" he cuts me off.

"just close the door." he demands.

"i demand that i know." i cross my arms standing in front of the six foot tall boy in front of me.

"you cannot tell anybody, kaitlyn." he looks me dead inside of my light brown eyes.

"i won't. i just want to know what's up."

"i love mads but." he starts.

"but what?" i go to sit next to him.

"she wants to be just friends. i knew this would happen. she can't stand committed for the life of her. she does this when she wants to date somebody else. her ex warned me about it. this is why i hate when my girl has a guy best friend. she's the second girl i've been with that has done this shit. i can't trust another girl ever again." he shouts.

"jaden, calm down. it's alright. things will work out." i reassure him.

"how, katie? you've never even been in a relationship so how would you even know?" his light eyes turn dark.

"first of all, ouch. second of all, i read romance novels and i'm pretty sure i know more about love than you." i go to stand up but he grabs my wrist.

"don't go." he begs.

"you act like no girl will ever care about you again. you act like all of them are like mads and your ex from high school. you're a great guy, jaden. you have everything." i smile at him.

"i swear, i don't know what i'd do without you. the johnson siblings are the best with advice. nobody can change my mind." he chuckles.

"what can i say? i'm amazing!" i tease.

"you're alright." he shrugs and i throw his pillow at him.

"so are you guys still friends at least? if you aren't then i can try talking to her if you want." i offer.

"i'm going to give her some space for the time being and i'll text her in a week or two. i hate having beef or being on bad terms with someone. it messes with my head. my ex from high school hates me and has blocked me and everyone who i went to high school with hates me as well even though she cheated on me." he admits.

"well, don't think about it too much, alright? get some rest." i pat him on the shoulder before getting up.

"thank you, k. i truly do appreciate your concern." he smiles.

"anything for a friend." i smile back at him before walking down to my room.
