lonely eyes//lauv part 2

"so after your shift he just popped?", elize askes.

the week started then quickly came to an end, its Friday afternoon & the squad is over. max is doing his laps around our family pool whereas me & elize tans in the backyard. elize wears a pink polka dot bikini & I in my black strapless one piece.

"yeah, I was over at the cash register bored out of my mind where he just casually walks in & orders a coffee", I say.

"wait so you actually saw him walk in?"

"no well, I was in a world of my own, I hardly noticed that it was HIM", I add.

elize starts laughing, "well if was looking for a guy forever I was definitely going to notice this one"

I roll my eyes, elize always has a saying for everything I say. "well mister brown eyes has a name", I say will I turn to lay on my side because the sun is starting to make me dizzy.

"his name is kendall", I finally add.

max pops out of the pool & starts cooing. oh my gosh the way this two are, they make me so uncomfortable sometimes.

"kendall", elize says tasting his name. she smiles & gives me a thumbs up.

for the rest, elize complains about how things are going at home & how it's making her sad. in somehow i can relate, things hasn't been so good at home too. my mom is so distant & my brother hardly being home, home is a very lonely place.

that's just how it goes by ROLE MODEL booms through the bluetooth speaker. a nice song for a slow afternoon.

"adia, can you get here please", my mom shouts as her head peaks through the back door.

"oh goodness, why now", i mumble under my breath. elize starts laughing.

once i get inside, my mom stands in the kitchen nearby the juicer waiting for it to switch off.

"honey would you like some?", she askes. "yeah sure"
"grab us some glasses, four please"

as i get the glasses put of the cabinet she sighs heavily as if she is getting something of her chest. gosh emily why did you call me in here i start thinking.

"honey i know these days we haven't been able to see eye to eye..",she begins.

get to the point mom. at this point im just irritated, I'd like to go out now.

"i just want to apologize, you have been going through so much since the death of your father & me being distant wasn't the right approach to let us as a family heal baby, im sorry addy"

she walks towards me & puts her hand on my shoulder. "mom i forgive you, it's my fault to but I'd like us to work on this", i say.

"thank you darling"

it feels actually good talking things out with my mom, i kiss her cheek & carry the glasses to the juicer so i can go out to the others.

"one more thing", she says.

i turn to face her, "yeah?"

"I'd like to invite you & your brother to the hidden gem tonight, i have something very important I'd like to share with you two", she says.

"gee mom, the hidden gem is expensive ypu know? this announcement must be really important", i say.

an expensive restaurant? must be very important if she is taking us there. the hidden gem is a restaurant for the elite. I've never been but everyone talks about it. this sounds like a promotion in her job if she is taking us there.

after pouring the juice, i join the others before getting ready for the night. i have to look great going there.

after taking a shower from the afternoon sun i change into a lovely red dress with amazing details to skirt that sparkles brilliantly. i finish off my outfit with sleeking my hair to a bun at the end of my head & a beautiful red lipstick.

after arriving at the hidden gem my breath is blown away. the interior is fancy, the decor is rich with warm colors of red, orange & yellow. the chandeliers are crystal & it has wall statues of greek goddesses holding up bowls to the orange clouds painted of the ceiling.

abel is dressed in a grey suit & my mom in a stylish silver dress. she looks beautiful. her short blonde hair is styled with big loose curls & her blue eyes shines nervously. i look over towards abel & her notices too how nervous my mom is. without thinking much about it we shrug.

at our seats we order drinks, i order a glass of water. abel red wine. my mom doesn't bother. the waiter leaves & we settle.
then suddenly my mom recieves a call, somehow the atmosphere intensives with a sort of heaviness. she replys into the call that she will be out quickly.

"maybe its her boss, be on your best behavior abel", i say.

abel starts laughing, "yeah yeah, how is that boy of yours? you two are getting closer hey. when am i meeting him, all i see is pictures"

"soon abel, i promise", i say laughing.

my mom returns & she looks very nervous. the booth where we are sitting is very private but large too. it's like a business VIP area of the restaurant. her boss must really like her.

"abel, adia i want to tell you why i brought you guys here today. well, ive been seeing someone for the past three months now & the way things have been going our relationship is escalating & we decided to become public about it & allow you guys to meet each other", my mom says.

my vision clouds over, smile wiped from my face. a hand touches mine & i know its abel's. "calm down okay, we will talk about this at home", he says.

i take a deep breath & let it out. my mom dissappears & comes back with her boyfriend.

shockingly kendall appears next to a man sharing similar features to him besides the man's long greying hair, both are dressed impressively & my red dress feels poor.

obviously this man is of wealth by what i see. & oh my gosh, i feel sick. this is... wrong. i can't seem to register but i already know what is happening.

"meet richard & his son kendall darlings, this is the man i just spoke about", my mom says introducing them.

as if i don't know already.
