Her Choice [Mako]

- Chapter 1: Welcome to Republic City -

~14 years ago~

It was around 3 am. Mitsuki grabbed as much as she could and put it all in a bag and threw it on her back as fast as possible. Athyna was still fast asleep before she was woken up by her mother carrying her.

"Mommy, where are we going?"

"Shhh, we are going to see out new home?" her mother whispered before rushing through the back gates. Athyna had dozed back off not taking in what her mother had just said.

A week later they arrived on Kyoshi island where Athyna and her mother lived for the next 14 years.

~Present day~

Athyna's p.o.v

I had packed a few items of clothing and grabbed the little money I had worked off and was on the next ferry to Republic city. I finally had gotten away from my mother and that prison of an island. My mother was always controlling. She said she was doing what's best for me but i just felt trapped. I was suddenly disrupted from my train of thoughts by the loud horns on the ferry.

I looked over to my right and was blessed by the beautiful sight or Republic City. Everyone was right, it was truly breathtaking.
"Wooow!" I squealed in excitement and got a few looks but I didn't care. I stepped off the boat and made my way through the city.

I had been on that ferry for days and decided I needed to break of the juk they fed us and found my way to the nearest Tea shop.

"Table for one please." I stated as I made my way up to the counter. A young woman nodded and led me to a booth in the far corner of the place. I placed my order and when it arrived I couldn't help but feel like I was being watched. I gave a side eye to the table across from my only to see and a young man around my age starring at me. I quickly glanced back at my tea before we could make eye contact.

"Is this seat taken?" The young man gestured to the seat in front of me.

"Sadly no." I replied. He took the seat in front of me and just kept eyeing me as I drank my tea. Finally he spoke.

"You must be new"

"Pardon?"

"I know this city like the back of my hand and i've never seen you."

"If you really must know, I just moved here."

"Maybe i could give you a tour?" He stood up and gestured his hand out for me to grab. I had nothing better to do so I took it and paid for my tea before stepping out.

We strolled down the streets and alleyways stopping at different stores and different attractions. " I never got your name?" I asked " Im Tahno and you are..." he raised a brow "Athyna"

" I assume you are from the fire nation," he asked.

"Not exactly. I'm from a Island but my mother told me I lived in the Fire Nation when I was really young but i can't quite remember that time.'' I explained trying not to give out too much information. He suddenly came to a stop

I noticed his hault and stopped by his side. "This is the grand finale." he announced and gestured his hand to the big gold building. My eyes lit up as if I was a child on christmas.

"This place is beautiful!" I vocalized. " But what is it?" I raised my brow.

"Ever heard of pro bending?" he questioned.

"No not really."

"Well you just so happened to be talking to a pro bending champion, and this is the arena."
