Is It Love??

...On campus I found Sarah waiting for me. She isn't at least that late. It's one of the good thing and the advantages of living just a few blocks away. I don't like being alone. Living by myself will make me feel more anxious even if life at the manor isn't really reassuring. But I don't have a choice. I'm a nanny in the bartholys. I'm fed and housed. That's the way it is.

Sarah: Oh you don't look too good. Did you have another one of those strange dreams?

Allison: yes I did...

Sarah: you really have to do something. You can't go on like this.

Allison: I know. But this time. It wasn't a bad dream at all. It was at the ball with Ludwig and this mysterious man called Nicolae. Well for that matter I can't help but call him Nicolae. But the craziest thing is that he kissed me! It was light and fast but he did it all the same!!

Sarah's eyes widen. Obviously she doesn't like the idea.

Sarah: But you're sure this guy is really Nicolae?

Allison: It's just a dream but one thing for sure is that both Nicolaes are the same person!! As for that matter, the Nicolae now is very much interested in my dreams... and want to know more about my dream. What's all about. He didn't tell me why but I felt that it matters to him.

Sarah: you should beware he's still a bartholy!!

Allison: He's always been really kind to me you know.

Sarah pouts half worried, half annoyed.

Sarah: don't tell me you like him!!!?

You can see it in a Miles off. There's no way denying it.

Allison: Well he does leave a last impression on me. There's something I can't explain about him. I can't explain.

Sarah: you like him. It's obvious.

Allison: pfft...what are you thinking?

Sarah: I'm not thinking anything. I'm sure, you always go all Nervous when ever you talk about him.

Allison:I don't see what you are talking about really...

Sarah: Yeah right!...

Allison:You've got the wrong idea. He's just my boss. Lorie's elder brother.

Sarah: How about the man of your dreams?

Sarah is really starting to get on my nerves. I must convince her that I don't feel anything for Nicolae,otherwise she will never drop it.

Allison: I came here to study Sarah,not to fall in love with the first boy who comes along!!

Sarah: Myeah...except that you don't control feelings... Love just happens.

Allison: Don't worry Sarah. Nothing will never happen between me and Nicolae. Besides his keen interest in my dreams and the question they arouse in him makes me feel pretty uneasy,to say the least. I really feel like I've put my finger on a family secret.

Certainly Nicolae was strange about it but I trust him all the same. He seems to be interested above all in my well being. I can't see him hurting me.

Sarah: you know...if you want,you can come to my place. I mean you can live with me for a while.

I'm new in town. Mystery spell is unknown to me. I don't know if it's Neighborhood or inhabitants... To tell the truth other than my employer... Sarah is the only one I've met here. Her proposal to put me up touches me. I find it kind of her to ask. Even if I feel a little too bad of not telling her the whole truth. I do have a crush on Nicolae. Even if I don't really understand why. Even if I hate to lie,telling Sarah the truth now is tricky.

Allison: Thanks for asking though. Your invitation really touches me.

Sarah: Don't think of it. It's normal to want to help each other out and...

Allison: And what?

Sarah: And like I have told you. The vampires are peculiar people. I don't like to think of you living with them. Especially with everything that has been going on lately. Your dreams,all that. What of if something happened to you??

She seems to think I'm in danger in the bartholy and it's not the first time. Nevertheless, I prefer not to pay attention to her warnings. I'm sure she's just exaggerating.

Allison: I'm a big girl you know. The bartholys don't scare me.

Well not that much anyway...

Allison: In any case I really appreciate your proposal. I'm really touched that you will be ready to accommodate me like that.

Sarah: That's what friends are for right? We need to stick together.

Sarah gives me a radiant smile. I'm really happy to have net her. She's really turning out to be a valuable friend. When we arrived the room is already filled. Classes have really started now and I will like to feel the excitement. I like the atmosphere. it gives the college life because it's much gloomier when it's empty. Sarah and I make our way through the students to our usual seats which are right at the top of the leisure theater. Our first class is with professor Jones. I have a hard time believing all these rumors and legends... Even if professor Jones tells them with enthusiasm and high spirits. Sebastian Jones is so passionate that it's thrilling to listen to him. Not like those old grouches who bore you to death. He's actually already facing us on his platform. On the board he's already written the topic for today which is "Vampires and Witches". It's going to be exciting.

Professor Jones: Hello everyone. I guess you all have your own idea about Witches?. The first thing that comes to mind is a old woman with crooked noses and faces covered with warts. And to that you can add green skin,a bit like the wicked witch of the west,right?

The whole theater burst into laughter at the mention of witches flying around with their broom sticks (on her broomsticks). The " Wizard of Oz" has always been one of my cult movies. But thinking about it always reminds me of my life before. When my parents were still alive. Which always makes me a little nostalgic. The theater falls quiet again and Sebastian Jones speaks up. Inviting us to forget everything and the subjects we knew about Witches.

Professor Jones: Once again I'm going to ask you to forget all your certainties. At leat those that came to you through fiction. The Witches that are mentioned to you in legends are not the ones described in fairy tales. There are people like you and I. They can be young, old,beautiful, plain... They can look like your average girl next door.

Sebastian Jones states those ideas which such casualness that you can only believe it even if it seems surprising. He continues his course and later address the subject of vampires again.

Professor Jones: Contrary to what you see in old movies,vampires don't come to find you in the middle of the night to suck your blood... That's just another cliche.!!

With all the movies and horror series I watch,it's hard for me to see vampires as charming. Even if I know they don't exist professor Jones word reassure me all the same. I think back to the classic idea of what people have of vampires. Pale skin,bloodshot eyes,pointed canines... It's sometimes difficult to believe it's all just imaginary. Judging by the sudden uproar the other students seems to share my doubt...
