TOBY MCDONOUGH'S POV:
Sure enough, I was right. There were 3 different stories.
"Riley, you tell me what you saw happen first." The principal said. "Well, like I said, I was in the bathroom when I heard the bell ring. When I left the bathroom, I saw Harper and Toby trying to skip school. Of course, I tried to stop them. It wasn't long before you showed up." Riley lied.
"Okay, now Toby." The principal said, looking at me.
"Well I was walking down the hall, heading to class when I saw Riley had pined Harper up against the lockers. I wasn't just going to stand there and let him bully her so I walked up to them and made him let her go. If you hadn't showed up when you did, I would probably be in the hospital right now." I said.
The principal then looked at Harper. "Now you Harper." He said.
"Well.. I was going to head to class when I ran into Riley. We got talking and everything and we didn't hear the bell ring. And then Toby showed up and told us we needed to get to class. That's when you showed up." She lied.
"So there's 3 different stories." The principal said.
Harper didn't say anything. Riley sat there with his arms crossed. "Well, who's telling the truth?" The principal asked after a while of no one saying anything. "I am" we all said at once.
The principal looked at us. "I see. Well since no one wants to say who is telling the actual truth, you three will be seeing me in detention every day after school until you three confess and say who's telling the truth." He said. "Now, I shall walk you three to class to make sure you get there." He said as he stood up.
We stood up and followed him out the door. Harper and I have the same classes so we were glad to get away from Riley.
*at lunch*
Harper and I sat outside in the grass while we ate. We didn't really talk. "Why did you tell the principal what really happened?" She said after we had finished eating.
"Because, someone needs to know the truth. Why did you lie about it?" I said. "Because.. It's just- nothing. Just promise me you're tell him that you lied about what happened.." She begged.
"No. Why don't you want anyone to know the truth?" I asked. Harper didn't reply right away.
"Because.. At my old school, I was getting bullied. Worse than I am here. I finally told someone and all it did was make it worse. Thankfully, my parents and I moved here in Florida and I had to change schools." She said.
"How did it get worse?" I asked.
She had a look on her face that told me she didn't want to answer the question.
HARPER CUREL'S POV:
Toby asked me how it got worse when I told someone about me being bullied..
I really didn't want to answer but I guess everyone has to answer everything at one point.. Right?
"Well.." I began.
