Petra struck first, swinging her sword over her head and bringing it down with surprising force, the metal clattering against Illyria’s as she effectively blocked the blow. Petra swung again, and again, her determination apparent. She was not without skill, in fact she was pretty good. But she was predictable, her sequence of movements easy to foresee, almost as though she were practicing a synchronised set.

If she thought Illyria was just going to stand there and let her show off, she was sorely mistaken. And if she was deluded enough to think that she was actually going to win this fight, she was about to get a serious reality check.

Illyria entertained her for a few minutes, figuring out her opponent but quickly tired of the routine and decided to up her game. Illyria unleashed a number of random patterns, breaking Petra’s sequence and forcing her back several steps, gaining ground easily. She stilled, allowing Petra to right herself for a moment. The girls amber eyes shocked, showing her confusion for the attacks. Illyria smirked, a spiteful, goading grin stretching across her lips, eyes challenging. Petra swallowed and held up her sword, brows knitting together and face becoming firm and determined.

Everyone was watching them intently, excited to see what would happen next. But Levi could feel that something was wrong. There was a tension between the two females, Illyria seemed almost too aggressive, like she had something to prove. The fire in her eyes and fierceness of her strikes hinting that she was not going to put on just a simple demonstration. It made him uncomfortable.

Illyria was riled up about something. That much had been obvious since last night. Her awkwardness in his office last night had not gone unnoticed by him. She had been uncomfortable, eager to get away from him as soon as possible. He had figured that she would come back later on, but she never did. Instead, she had gone and stayed the night with Eren.

His eyes flicked over to the chocolate haired boy who was stood with the other cadets, watching the fight unfold. Levi grit his teeth. He was still incredibly pissed about that. Walking in and finding Illyria in another man’s bed, wrapped up in his arms had almost made him snap. How he hadn’t walked over there and beat Eren to death in his bed was a mystery to him. Because he had certainly wanted to. It had taken everything he had to not approach the boy. He didn’t believe her lie, that she had fallen asleep in his room and it was all totally innocent. She had got from the bed wearing his clothes for fuck sake. She had clearly intended to stay the night. He felt his blood simmering under his skin again, itching to get to the oblivious boy across from him, his mind plagued him with all the endless possibilities concerning what had happened between the two of them last night.

The reminder that he had no right to be mad at Illyria crossed his mind. But that didn’t change a thing. He didn’t like it. Plain and simple. He didn’t like to see another man with their hands on her. That much had become clear with the whole Nile incident, and Illyria knew this. Yet she still slept with Eren. Eren. Of all people. Of all the people she could choose to fuck, she just had to choose him. Humanities Last Hope. The one guy Levi categorically could not kill. That didn’t mean he couldn’t make his life a living hell though, if Illyria would just stop interfering.

Levi would get his answers from the Jaeger brat later on. He would beat it out of him if he had to.

He turned his attention to the two females again, watching Illyria closely. She was certainly fired up today, her form was flawless. There was power and intent behind each and every move. A solid swing to Petra’s sword had almost made the shorter girl buckle from force, knees bending slightly and she had to use both of her arms to stop the sword from being struck from her hand.

Illyria’s rebelliousness had spiralled out of control in the last twenty four hours. She had stayed the night with titan boy, breaking several regulations and then had ignored his order to go to his office, showing a total lack of respect. Levi would not tolerate her insubordination. He was always worried that this day would come. The day where Illyria would start to think that just because they were sleeping together, she would be allowed to get away with things. Would get treated differently, that he would overlook her turbulent behaviour. It was the one thing he had always been genuinely worried about.
