When Chase and the chief returned from their surveillance, the team explained to them what they had discovered. Chase raised his opticbrows in surprise but quickly turned to check the blue stains visible on the crumbled road. He cringed at the obvious energon spills. Blades peered over the edge of the road in curiosity.
"Should we...check it out?" he asked. The team of bots and humans looked at each other. Heatwave spoke up, shattering the silence. "It could be an autobot. We should probably investigate and see who it is. We'll contact Optimus later." The team seemed content with that plan. Quickshadow frowned, a million different thoughts racing through her processor.
"What if it's a decepticon?" she asked, keeping her optics on the shining blue puddles. Heatwave sighed. "Well, let's just hope to Primus that it's not."
Chief Burns didn't want anyone getting hurt so he began to call out orders. "Dani, Blades, fly over where our visitor stopped. Tell us what you can see. The rest of us will follow the trail on foot. Everyone proceed with caution. If this truly is a decepticon...things could get ugly."
As Dani and Blades flew quickly to the rendezvous point, the remainder of the rescue team followed the trail of streaks of energon. Everything seemed normal. The forest birds were chirping happily, darting from tree to tree and investigating the newcomers. Squirrels chased each other with acorns in their teeth. One even clambered up Boulder thinking he was a tree. The gentle mech smiled as the small mammal gawked with his beady black eyes at Boulder's bright amber ones. "Hello little guy," Boulder uttered before the creature scurried down and disappeared into the woods.
The energon trail kept going on and on. Heatwave noted how they didn't lessen in their amount but seemed to have the same capacity in every puddle they came across. The visitor's ship, or even the visitor himself, had been leaking a great amount of energon. The fire mech grimaced as his thoughts drifted to the war. The raging battles between the autobots and decepticons had resulted in massive casualties. Some skirmishes were so drastic that bodies had to be left on the battlefield, only remaining in the sparks of their more fortunate comrades. Energon had soaked the ground and had given it a sickly blue glow. Heatwave had been old enough to fight towards the end of the war and had only fought in so many battles before Cybertron had been completely destroyed. He had been put into stasis with his rescue team, but the battle scars were still there. All of them internal.
Heatwave shook his helm lightly not wanting to think too much about his painful past. He gazed around the forest until his optics landed on a beautiful femme. Quickshadow's slender frame moved gracefully as she stepped lightly on her pedes. Rays of golden sunlight filtered through the leafy canopy overhead, illuminating the femme's silver and white plating. Her crystal optics looked like shimmering pools of energon as they swept curiously over everything. Heatwave had to choke back a chuckle. Typical Quickshadow; noting down every little detail in her processor.
He didn't even notice that is gaze was lingering over her hips when he heard an almost inaudible "ahem" coming from her lip components. He jerked his helm away a little too quickly as he felt himself turn a shade of blue. He also heard an adorable giggle coming from her which made him turn an even brighter shade of energon. He finally decided to mech up and face her. He was surprised to see her within a few feet from him; she had moved closer. She stared at him intently, a soft smile etched on her face plates. He didn't mind that energon warmed his cheek plates even more, he was determined to hold her gaze. Their servos brushed lightly as their pedesteps started to move in sync. No one seemed to notice the two in the back of the group. Heatwave bravely enfolded his servo around Quickshadow's smaller one. He felt his spark race as she leaned into him and closed her optics. Their pedesteps gradually slowed as the rest of the team kept moving at a contant pace, oblivious as they were being left behind. Little did they know that one certain green bot was smiling back at them, but careful not to draw any attention to the pair.
